Welcome to our week 7-8 topic discussion for the


subject Asian Studies. I am Katherine Joys Tulabing, your presenter/reporter for tonight, and
with me is my partner, Ma’am Ofelia Alicante. Alright, so last week, Ma’am Jennifer and Ma’am
Kat Sanchez discussed the different countries in the eastern part of Asia, particularly China,
Japan, South and North Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. This time, we will be focusing on
the central and northern parts of Asia. However, tonight, I will be concentrating on central Asian
countries, and most likely, in the next meeting; Ma’am Ofelia will discuss northern Asia."

"Central Asia" is a region located in the heart of the Asian continent. It includes countries such
as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. This region is known for its
diverse cultures, rich history, and strategic geopolitical importance.

These nations were formerly part of the Soviet Union and gained independence in 1991 with the
dissolution of the Soviet bloc.
