JOB

Workplace is a very important role in a person's life. Since we spend about half our lives at
work, it doesn't matter how we feel there.

CAREER CHOICE

If you want to do mental work, you have to learn a lot. There are for example white collar
jobs (lawyer, judge, salesman) and blue collar jobs (farmer, builder, electrician). People
with white collar jobs do mental work, people with blue collar jobs do physical work. People,
who have a white collar job can earn more money, but they have to study quite a lot.
However, people can earn money with physically jobs too, but not so much as e.g. a doctor. If
you graduated (végez az egyetemen) from university, you used to be an engineer,
psychologist, teacher or doctor. Lawyers and doctors also acquire (szerez) a doctorate with
their diploma. If you don't want to study so much, you can learn a profession (szakma) at
the vocational school (szakiskola).

Choosing a profession causes difficulties for young people, because they have unattainable
(elérhetetlen) ideas. They don’t want to work, although they want to get a lot of money.
Also, they have no idea about real life and they can't judge how much money is good. And
they don't want to work or they are lazy. I think that nowadays there are a lot of young people
who are spoiled (elkényeztetett). Also, they have no experience in the world of work, so
they don't know, when they are being cheated (becsapott). I think that parents can influence
(befolyásol) the child's career choice, because the child sees the example of the parents.

STUDY OR WORK?

It is also a good question that one should rather (inkább) educate oneself (magát) or find a
good job as soon as possible. I think that both are a good solution (megoldás), because
nowadays professionals earn very well, because they work are in short supply (hiányszakma).
When they start working, they don't want to study any more, because they think that they
already earn and it's enough for them. I think that you can earn more, if you have higher
education. They have to work a lot and they also have to do heavy physical work. They can
learn a trade, with which they can earn money. These people can also earn very well (the
professionals earn as much money as a lawyer), if they work shortage jobs. Nowadays,
skilled jobs (carpenter, tailor = ács, szabó) are not so popular, because people think that they
earn badly from these jobs.
There are people who want to continue studying after high school, but they want to work
first to earn some money to pay for their studies. If you prefer to study, you will generally get
more money sooner or later than a professional worker. This work is more mental, but it can
also be exhausting.

There are many cases when you want to work alongside (mellett) school. This time you can
find a job, where you have to work about 6 hours or less, but you can earn some money, from
which you can buy something (clothes, gifts). Students can be waiters or shop assistants in
different shops.

There are so many companies where students can try themselves different fields (területek).
For example Diákmeló is one of them. There they can choose a profession and work there. In
our school there is a day where many people will invite and they have to talk about their work
for us. I think it's helpful too.
