Components definition: antenna
The whole simulation includes a platform (back plate + radome) and a source (horn antenna).

Therefore first we need to define two different projects:

• Horn antenna
• Back plate and radome
For the horn antenna considering the specific geometry the I-solver has been chosen
For the radome and back plate, considering the big size compared with lambda, the A-solver
has been chosen as good trade off between accuracy and simulation time.

Considering that the I-solver is a

surface method I removed all the

double surfaces so that the simulation
is faster without losing accuracy

Components definition: platform
For the platform the only aspect we need to
pay attention to is the material

characterization. In this case we use a thin

sheet approach defining the material as a
single sheet and assigning it a synthetic
thickness to simulate the real slab.

Assembly definition
Once we have the antenna and the platform model we

can assemble them in the system assembly.

Assembly definition
To assemble the components in the system assembly select the relevant projects in
their folder and drag & drop it in the assembly.

Place the antenna in the right position on the platform using the anchor points
previously defined.

Here we can choose to define an Uni-directional or

Bi-directional hybrid simulation. In the following we’ll
focus on the bi-directional task because the
definition for the Uni-directional is almost the same

Additional notes: change some configuration’s parameter
For changing some parameter in the antenna or platform project we can select the
component and choose Edit. The project will open and we can modify the needed data.
