✓ gives the body its shape, helps support,
protect and move the body
✓ Bones have different sizes and shapes –
related for its own job

MUSCLES
JOINTS

- is the place
where two bones
meet.
TYPES OF JOINTS
Ball-and-socket
joints allows an arm
or leg to move in a
circular path.
✓ shoulders
✓ hips
TYPES OF JOINTS

MUSCLES
(MUSCULAR SYSTEM)
TYPES OF MUSCLES
VOLUNTARY MUSCLE
– you choose to when and how
to use them like arms and legs.
TYPES OF MUSCLES

VOLUNTARY MUSCLE
– Made of tissues that contract,
or get shorter, in response to a
signal from the brain.
TYPES OF MUSCLES
VOLUNTARY MUSCLE
The contraction happens in one direction only.

Bones move in at least two directions because

muscles work in pairs.
TYPES OF MUSCLES
INVOLUNTARY
MUSCLE
– Brain controls
other muscles
automatically and
without awareness
like stomach.
When you contract your biceps muscle, it pulls you
lower arm towards your body. To move your arm
in the opposite direction, your biceps muscle
relaxes. Your triceps contracts.
