I. SUMMARY

The national flag of Algeria consists of two equal vertical bars, green and white, charged in
the center with a red star and crescent, a symbol of Islam as the nation's prominent faith.
Algeria, officially People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Country, North Africa Area:
919,595 sq mi (2,381,741 sq km). Population: (2024 EST.) 46,839,000. Capital: Algiers.
Most of the population is ethnically and linguistically Arab, with a large Amazigh minority.
Languages: Arabic (official), Currency: Algerian dinar. Politics of Algeria takes place in a
framework of a constitutional semi-presidential republic the political system is characterized
by a division of powers between the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune who
serves as the head of state, and the Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui who serves as the head
of government.

Islam is the official religion in Algeria and is practiced by the majority of the country's
inhabitants. Sunni Islam or Muslim religion permeates Algeria in practically every aspect of
life. Algeria is dominated by Muslims, with nearly ninety-eight percent of the population.
Algeria Gross National Product (GNP) was reported at 187.922 USD bn in Dec 2022. This
records an increase from the previous number of 160.572 USD bn for Dec 2021 also their
GDP in Algeria is expected to reach 202.08 USD Billion by the end of 2023, according to
Trading Economics global macro models and analysts’ expectations.

Algerian cuisine offers a variety of dishes depending on the region and the season, but
vegetables and cereals remain at its core. Most of the Algerian dishes are centered on bread,
meats (lamb, beef or poultry), olive oil, vegetables, and fresh herbs. Of all the Algerian
traditional dishes available, the most famous one is couscous, recognized as a national dish.
Lastly A significant part of Algeria is covered by the Sahara Desert. Travelers can experience
the breathtaking landscapes of the dunes, oases, and unique desert ecosystems.
