It is considered that both authoritarian and merciful have certain disadvantages and advantages.

From
my point of view, it is irrefutable that both styles can have their own drawbacks as well as advantages.

On the one hand, there is a concept that strict parenting will create perfect kids, and I believe that it is
partly correct. Children who are under their parents' regulation may find it easier to maintain the quality
of their academic performance due to the fact that their parents tend to spend more time controlling
and adjusting their children's way of learning. Therefore, they can teach their adolescence about how to
be more self-disciplined. Nevertheless, being strict all the time with children is not a perfect idea.
Parents who are controlling and inflexible are more likely to set up high expectations which is,
sometimes, out of reach for young children. Due to this reason, they suffer from anxiety and pressure
from their closest family members which withholds them from entering the society without feeling self-
deprecating and abashed by their family.

On the other hand, a lenient parenting style may allow young children to experience an idyllic childhood
without suffering from being oppressed by parents and anxiety. Children may inform themselves about
self-knowledge, and they will have more chances to discover their dreams, witness and solve problems
by themselves. Furthermore, children can feel a sense of independence when they are living in a non-
stressful family environment. However, if parents are too easygoing and not paying enough attention to
their children, adolescents tend to follow the path of criminal life due to the fact that the minds of the
children are too impressionable.

In conclusion, it is undeniable that both parenting styles have a number of disadvantages as well as
advantages. For this reason, parents must understand their children in order to instill them in the
correct way.
