Does the combo of self-deception and compensate make the third eye
' obsolete??
For those who don't know, self-deception prevents the killer from receiving a notification when a
survivor (it doesn't say whether it means all survivors in the match or not; could someone investigate??
It isn't specific with compensate either) is shocked while decoding a cipher machine. 3 points are
needed in the talent for there to be a 100% chance of the hunter to not receive a notification;
otherwise 50% and 75% for tier 1 and 2 respectively.

Compensate allows you to see the aura of the killer every time a survivor (still not specific to the
survivor using it or all survivors in match) is shocked while decoding a cipher machine for 3/5/7
seconds based on the tier of the talent.

So this allows you to see the killer when you miss a skill check without letting the killer know that you
missed the skill check; this has a lot of potential to make the third eye redundant as you can pretty
much reveal the location of the killer any time you want, unlike third eye's every minute or so, so long
as you're at a cipher (but let's face it, you're probably going to know where the killer is if you're not
decoding; you probably don't even need to know if you're not decoding or being chased anyways).

This perk combo has great synergy with priestess, explorer, thief (they all have an increased chance to
receive skill checks, while thief increases it for the entire team; survivors that have a reduced chance to
trigger skill checks aren't so great with this combo) and possibly mechanic too (if you're decoding
using both the mechanic and the bot at the same gen, does this allow you to concentrate on the bots
skill checks? Or can you not decode and control the bot at the same time? Otherwise this doesn't really
help).

Both talents can be found on the east (right) side of the talent tree.

Can someone test if this works (both self-deception's ability to hide shock notifications and
compensate's ability to reveal the killer) for all survivors in the match please?

I didn't read the whole thing, you share the talent as far as I know. I don't run it for reasons I will
further explain, but have seen it in action when other survivors ran it. To answer your question no
of course not, the tree is made so you can't take every good trait and these are in no way good
traits, you will usually have 3-5 skill checks (so you are also wrong about the "you could see the
hunter anytime" part), and failing them will just set your team back seconds,valuable seconds.
The reason why minds eye is viable in ranked is not because of hunter awareness, a good hunter
will know where you are regardless of you making a mistake, the reason why she is decent is her
30% deduction speed bonus.

It's bad because you still lose progress on the cipher by missing skill checks.

Also Mind's Eye is meant for decoding, not revealing the hunter. That's just a bonus.

I believe the description is “increased by 100%”. This would mean that the chance of getting
discovered still exists, but lower. e.g. originally x%, after raising the persona -> 2x% which is not
100%

That would imply that there already is a chance that the hunter doesn't detect an exploding
cipher machine, which is definitely not the case. I feel like it's just a translation error.
