I enjoy contact sports. It has never bothered me to be hit or to hit while playing sports.

Dont get me wrong, I don t go out and look for people to hit, but in a game such as football, basketball or in the martial arts, it does not bother me to have contact. Contact is just part of the game. Now, lets talk about church. No, church should not be a contact event in the sense of hitting or bumping. But, contact is very important in the life of the church. This kind of contact is verbal, inspirational, and meaningful. It is when we contact someone who has been absent for a while and invite them back to church. It includes contacting those who have not attended a church in a while and are not attending a church now. Contact includes calling on the sick, the bereaved and the shut in. Contact is very important. Unlike in a sporting event where contact is limited to those on the playing field, church contact can be done by every member at the same time. In fact, all members of the church should be involved in contacting those listed above and others. Wow, think how many people would be touched by the Lord if all of us made just one contact of some type each week... Whom will you call and invite to church this week? Whom will you bring with you? Who will have their day brightened because you called or went to see them? In this sense, church is a contact event. I look forward to seeing you in Sunday School and church this Sunday. Paul

Sons Of Jubal Trip to DPRK The Sons of Jubal are committed and honored to travel to the DPRK to perform and help work towards reconciliation. We continue to work with our partners to prepare the best opportunity and timing for this event. We are grateful for our DPRK hosts and Global Resource Services (www.grsworld.org) who are working to make this endeavor a reality. After further discussions with our partners, we are adjusting our schedule for the Spring of 2012. We greatly appreciate the flexibility and willingness of our DPRK Hosts to wait until 2012. More details will be shared as they are confirmed and develop. Pray for the members of the Sons of Jubal as they share concerts and prepare for this unique opportunity. JOIN A CHOIR NOW January is a good month to consider joining one of the many musical groups in our church. Each group, from the Tiny Tones to the Saints Alive, are gathering each week to begin work on new projects, lessons and songs that will enhance and uplift our congregation and community. Wont you consider adding your voice to one of these fine groups now? Theres no better time. AUDIO/VIDEO NOTES Sometimes members and guests have inquired how they may get a copy of a particular service of worship to review or share with others. Heres whats available: DVDs of the 11:00 am services and special music presentations are exactly like the high quality TV broadcast each week. These are $5. CDs of the 11:00 am and 6:30 pm services are available for $2. The website: www.fbcbainbridge.com also has each weeks sermons available online. Art

AWANA News
Backwards Night Sunday January 23rd sdrawkcaB(backwards) Everyone is to wear everything backwards. Some activities will be backwards.

DNOW DNOW is a weekend retreat that occurs in town and includes over 300 youth from our area getting together to worship God. We have food, recreation, missions, fellowship, and worship all within a 48 hour time period. It is one of the greatest weekends of the year for our ministry and always is a blessing to our students and to us as leaders. This years theme is Hunger Pains. I know many of us have never been hungry, but we have felt that emptiness in our stomachs at some point even if for a brief moment. This year we are going to look at the fact that the only thing that can truly fill that eternal emptiness is God and a relationship with Him. We are also going to look at the desire for all people to know Him so that they dont have to feel that emptiness either. We are having sign-ups in the Sanctuary on Wed. nights and also in Sunday School. I would encourage you to sign up soon so that I know how many groups we will need for that weekend. As soon as I know how many groups we will need, I will be contacting people about hosting and co-hosting duties. Just a heads up so that you are ready to say yes when I ask you. DNOW is truly a great event and if you would like to help in any way, please contact me or the church office.
