Food and Beverage Guests

This is a core unit within the WSQ Qualification ‘Certificate of F&B Service’.

Synopsis
Training in this unit of competency aims to equip the candidate with the knowledge and skills to
interact with and serve F&B guests and be able to apply these knowledge and skills in an actual
work setting.

 Assisting guests with seating
 Taking food and beverage orders
 Serving beverages
 Picking up food orders
 Serving food
 Presenting bills
 Assisting guests with departure

Who Should Attend


 New entrants to the workforce who have some background in the food and beverage
industry
 Personnel who wish to complete the WSQ Certificate of F&B Service qualification
 Existing operations based rank and file, supervisory personnel, assistant managers and
managers

Pre-requisites
 Ability to read and interpret simple instructions on familiar topics
 Ability to write short, simple notes/messages and filling up forms that require
basic personal information
 Ability to listen and speak simple phrases
 Ability to perform simple calculations and make necessary adjustments.
 Level 4 literacy and numeracy ability under the Singapore Employability Skills Set

Mode of Delivery and Assessment

Delivery Methodology
Classroom based training, ratio of 1 trainer : 20 candidates

Assessment
 Role play either in a realistic or simulated environment
 Oral questioning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)


Learning objectives at the beginning of each section outline the performance criteria which
describe the competencies you need to demonstrate. If you believe that you can already
demonstrate these skills, please talk with your facilitator/ assessor about applying for recognition
of your skills.

Award
Participants who have completed this unit will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.

Articulation
On completion of all the pre-requisite units within the WSQ Certificate of F&B Service, the
candidate will be eligible to pursue the WSQ Advanced Certificate in F&B Service.
