31(i) The 4th term of a G.P. is square of its secod term, and the first term is –3. Determine

33. (i) In an increasing G.P., the sum of the first and the last term is 66, the product of

(ii) The inventor of the chess board suggested a reward of one grain of wheat for the
first square, 2 grains for the second, 4 grains for the third and so on, doubling the
number of the grains for subsequent squares. How many grains would have to be given
to inventor? (There are 64 squares in the chess board.)

34. i. Evaluate : cos (5π/12) cos (π/12)


ii. Prove that tan(π/4 – x) tan(π/4 – α) = m, if :

iv. all different letters.

37. A number between 100 and 1000 contains three digit numbers.if we want to form a
number with exactly one digit as 7 then we have following cases

i. those numbers that have 7 in the unit’s place but not in any other place.
ii. those numbers that have 7 in the tens’s place but not in any other place.
iii. those numbers that have 7 in the hundred’s place but not in any other place.

Based on the above information ,answer the following questions


How many numbers are there between 100 and 1000 which have exactly one of their
digits as 7.

38. There are 52 cards in a deck of playing cards. Out of 52 cards 26 are red cards and
26 are black cards. There are 4 suites , each suites has 13 cards and out of which 1 is a
king.

Based on the above information answer the following questions.


(ii) Find the probability that when a hand of 4 cards is dealt from a well- shuffled deck
of 52 cards, it contains :
(ii) all diamond
(ii) no ace
(iii) black cards (i.e., a club or, a spade)
(iv) not a diamond
