INSTITUTIONAL STUDENTS REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL

URGENT UPDATE Date: 27th of June 2023

Revolutionary Greetings

As per our previous communique, stating that the Vice-Chancellor, prof Petersen will meet
the CEO of NSFAS. The ISRC would like the student populace to kindly take note of the
following developments:

DIRECT PAYMENT SYSTEM

The NSFAS has again, committed to meeting the ISRC and Financial Aid on Thursday, 28th
of June 2023 at the Bloemfontein campus. A more comprehensive update and the way
forward regarding this matter will follow after this meeting.

Our stance remains unchanged, UFS is not ready for this system and we call upon NSFAS
to postpone it until all students are on-boarded

QwaQwa Campus Private Accommodation Proposal

After extensive deliberations between the Vice-Chancellor and NSFAS, the ISRC can
confirm that the PA proposal which was sent to NSFAS on the 8th of May 2023 has been
approved. The annual private accommodation amount for the Qwaqwa campus is now R30
520. The ISRC welcomes this decision and will alert students once the new prices are
updated on the system

Outstanding NSFAS Issues

The ISRC had mandated the Vice-Chancellor to put pressure on the NSFAS, to resolve the
outstanding matters including but not limited to the appeals process, funding reversals, and
funding lists. We are reliably informed that all other outstanding matters will be resolved
during the first week of July 2023.

Ends.
