General Objective: After 30 minutes of health teaching, client will be able to understand the importance of safe and clean water and its significance to the overall
well-being.
▪ Chlorination
Step-by-step guide:
1. Supplies - Household bleach or chlorine
tablets with at least 5-6% sodium
hypochlorite, water from a reliable supply and
clean container for mixing
2. Check the bleach. Make sure the bleach
you're using is free of potentially dangerous
chemicals like thickeners or perfumes.
3. Measure the Water you want to treat
4. Calculate the Chlorine Amount: For clear
water, add 8 drops of bleach per gallon (3.78
liters). For cloudy water, double the dosage.
5. Mix to evenly distribute the chlorine,
thoroughly stirs the water.
6. Let the water stand for at least 30 minutes. If
the water is very cold, increase the waiting
time to 60 minutes.
7. After the waiting period, the water should
have a slight chlorine odor. If not, repeat the
dosage and wait again.
8. Store Safely.
