What are the problems and solutions to overpopulation?

In the contemporary world, the high density of population has always been the culprit of numerous issues
including the environmental contamination, the lack of accommodation, etc... This essay will elaborate on
prominent issues relevant to overpopulation and propose feasible measures to tackle them.

To commence with, the overgrowing population has led to numerous issues which consist of
environmental pollution and the natural resources exhaustion. Firstly, the explosive growth in population
is the culprit of environmental contamination. To be more specific, plenty of people can result in a huge
amount of domestic waste which is extremely hard to treat timely. Hence, a considerable amount of
domestic garbage will be released into the environment which leads to numerous pollution and seriously
affects the environment. For instance, reporters have shown a considerable proportion of people in the
urban areas who have suffered from lung diseases is 35%. The second difficulty of the exponential
population growth is the depletion of resources. In fact, most of the energies such as fossil fuels and oil
are non-renewable. Therefore, if the consumption of these resources staggeringly rises due to
overpopulation, they will be used up in the long run.

In order to handle the consequences of an overgrowing population there is a potential method, which can
be implemented, is family planning. Specifically, if the authority requires all schools to develop and bring
a comprehensive sexuality education programme, the students will have a better awareness which reduces
unwanted pregnancy percentage. For instance, some reporters have indicated that more than 50% of
pregnancies are unintended, especially teenagers from 15 to 19 who were the highest among women. In
addition, the governments should also raise people’s awareness by propagating and providing all residents
with knowledge relating to birth control and its importance.

In conclusion, overpopulation has brought about various detrimental impacts on the environment and the
natural resources depletion hence in order to tackle the problem it’s vital to provide people with family
planning knowledge. In my opinion, the authorities should firmly interfere with the issues of the
explosive growth in population and overcome this problem with some potential solutions such as birth
control.
