Background/Problem

During my internship for teaching, I was supposed to create a project to show children

how leadership is important and what they can learn from it. Doing this project showed children

that being a leader can sometimes be a challenge, but there are good things to being a leader as

well. Also, this project a two-day lesson plan to create. Also, this project was to show children

where our leaders were and why they were important to me and them as well.

Purpose

This project's purpose was to show people the historical background of being a leader and

why these leaders are important to us. This project was to show children how do our past and

present tense leaders impacted us and what are some things that we learn from them. My goal for

this project was to show children videos of leaders that paved the way for us to be here and equal

today and then they created a poster based on who was their favorite leader and why they chose

them.

Research Method and Procedures

To teach children to understand who our leaders where they had to be taught what a

leader was and the qualities of a leader. For this part of the project, I did a research method on

what is leader and what are some activities that I can do to help students understand the

importance of leadership, so while researching I found the first thing to do is to teach them what

is a leader first and how to become a leader, and that’s what I did, which is reading them a book

based on what is a leader The book that I read to the students was called “I Want To Be a Leader

When I Grow Up” by Blake Bozarth and Illustrated Dinosaur House. After I read the book, and

got the students situated, my next step was to turn my project into action.
Analysis Findings

After doing my research on leadership and teaching children what is a leader and how to

become a leader, on the first day my plan was I showed them videos on African American

leaders and how they paved the way for us to be here today. The first video I showed them was

called “Ruby Bridges for Kids” by Homeschool Pop and after showing them that video the

students were supposed to write down the information that they learned about Ruby Bridges. The

second video I showed them was called “Who Was Rosa Parks” by Twinkl Teaching Resources,

and with this video, the students were supposed to do the same thing as they did for the first

video and turn both of their information on both leaders to me. On the second day for this project

the students were supposed to write and create their leadership poster. With this poster the

children were supposed to with the leader's name that choose, a picture of them, information

about them, and facts about them. My goal was to create something for children not only for fun,

but to learn why leadership is important to us and as well I did this project during Black History

Month.

Recommend Plan Action

It is recommended that we have leaders in our community because shows us that they can

provide directions and motivate us to become something in our lives and create a aspect on

teaching us that having leadership helps to become successful. In the past we have great leaders

that has paved the way for us to be here and with each other to create bonds and relationships as

well. Creating this project and putting into action has helped to show children that there are

leaders here that teaches being a leader or showing leaderships helps to step outside of the box

and try new things and that’s what our leaders have showed us. As an African American woman
my goal was to show them, they that you can be all types of colors to be leaders and just because

your one thing doesn’t mean that you can’t be a leader or show it.
