For project one I began by brainstorming about the problems in my communities.

Brainstorming before choosing a topic made it easier to choose a problem in my community. I
listed the communities that I am currently a part off, my workplace and UNM. I decided to do
the effects of college tuition on Hispanic low-income students because I can write from
personal experience. This issue is very important and as a Hispanic student I know how
overwhelming it can be to pay for higher education. This was a topic that I could elaborate and
write recommendations to resolve or improve this issue.

The process for choosing the methodology for project one started by reaching out to a
librarian at UNM. This project was a research project, and I knew I had to include several
sources. Therefore, the UNM library database was going to be a good source of information.
Then, I constructed a questionnaire that included questions regarding ethnicity and income.
This survey was given to four different students to compare attitudes and means for paying for
college tuition.

When choosing between the more important and less important information I did not find
any difficulties. A lot of the information that I encountered was consistent with other articles.
The information that I left out was not strong or useful to the report. I did not encounter
difficulties when interpreting the results because a lot of the information found I was aware off.
I knew that there were barriers standing in the way of Hispanic students, what I had to do was
find them in other professional works and give possible solutions. The most difficult part for this
project was incorporating visuals. I knew that I needed to provide the questionnaire
information in the report, therefore I added a visual of it. Aside from that visual it was hard to
find a place for others. It was not difficult to follow the timeline because there was enough time
to work on the project and take feedback from peer reviews.

The skills that I learned during this project can be transferred to my future workplace. I can
use a recommendation report to recommend the options available to solve a problem. Problem
solving is essential in the workplace. Being able to problem solve and express those ideas in
writing will be an amazing asset. I would like my instructor to know that I enjoyed writing this
report and pitching in my ideas to solve a problem. I believe this skill will benefit me greatly. It
was a challenging project, and I spent many hours working on it. I am happy to have completed
this project.
