SENIOR PROJECT SELF-EVALUATION

Directions: Utilize this worksheet to help evaluate yourself and your project. Be as complete
and descriptive as possible. This self-evaluation should give the scoring team a clear picture of
what you accomplished in your project.

Name - Peyton Wilson Project Start Date – Second Semester, 2020

Title of Project - Sexual Assault and Harassment in the Workplace Project Completion Date - Would have been March 29

1. In 40 words or more describe who your project benefited and how. In other words, what was the impact of your project?

This project was supposed to benefit young women who were about to enter the workforce, or have newly entered. My paper was
specifically about the workplace, and I believe that it is important for women to learn this information before they begin working so that
they may be prepared for any situation that unfolds. The purpose is to help create a safer environment, and to help young women feel
more secure.

2. In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you. How was this a stretch for you?

This project challenged me because I was required to advocate for myself, as well as keep myself organized and prepared. In the
certification class, all of the other students were adults, most being police officers. It was a much different environment than I was used
to, and daunting to say the least. Despite this, I was still able to fully complete the class with confidence. When it came time to start
planning my own class to teach, I had to convince the department at the YMCA that I was worth spending their time on, and that my
class would be a success for them as well as for myself. I haven’t always been the best at having enough confidence to do things like
that, but I was able to for my project because I had complete confidence that the information I would be teaching is worthwhile.
3. List and then describe 5-8 fundamental ideas/concepts/skills of your project, which you learned/enhanced during your
project.

Public speaking, organization, commitment, maturity, and self confidence were all things that I learned and enhanced during
my project. During the class (which was out of town), I was completely responsible for getting myself to the class on time,
with the right materials. It was a time consuming class that I gave up three days to complete, and in this class I was expected
to handle myself with maturity especially because my peers at the time were thirty and up. I had to be confident in myself and
also improve upon my public speaking because we were expected to present during the class, and demonstrate techniques for
each other as well.

4. List and describe 4-8 problems/obstacles/issues you encountered in your project, and briefly describe how you solved each.

Someone else wanted the same project topic as I did, so I adjusted slightly to focus on the workplace. The YMCA said they weren’t
going to run the class if I didn’t have ten people in attendance, and thankfully R.A.D. helped by funding the ten people. There was a
conflict where the date wouldn’t work that we originally had decided on, so I moved around my own schedule for the date that the
YMCA had available. Finally the last obstacle was Covid-19, which unfortunately could not be solved by myself.

5. List materials used.

Pads and targets supplied by R.A.D., as well as my instructors manual which was also supplied by R.A.D.

6. List all people who helped you on the project and briefly describe the help given.

Kathy and Larry Nadeau, for allowing me to take the instructor course at no expense as well as providing scholarships for my own
students.
Cathy Cawlfield from the YMCA, who scheduled and would have helped teach my class.
7. How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you started the project? Explain the reason
behind any changes from your proposal.

The idea I had in mind would have been to complete the student class, which unfortunately was not possible because of the virus. I
do plan on becoming an instructor when I move away to college, as my university has a R.A.D. department on campus.

8. If given the opportunity, explain what you would have done differently now that you speak from experience?

Again, unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to teach my class and therefore there is nothing I could have done differently. If
I could have scheduled it sooner I would have, but the end of March was the soonest available for the YMCA.

9. Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself?

I learned that I am capable of many things physically and mentally. In the class, we had a lot of physically taxing activities such as
practicing techniques on each other and going through simulation which is a mentally and physically stressful experience. I am proud
that I was able to complete the class, and I decided that beyond my project I will continue instructing these classes.

10. What grade would you give yourself on the project? Justify the evaluation of your grade in at least 25 words.
Grade: 90%

Justification: I gave myself a 90 because I am disappointed that I was unable to teach the class. Other than this fact, I do believe
that the class would absolutely have been a success, and like I said before, I am still incredibly proud of my accomplishment of
becoming a certified instructor and know that I will be teaching in the future. I put a lot of time and dedication into this project,
and believe that it is still one of my greatest accomplishments, regardless of the fact that I was unable to teach.
