I. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

1. In PQ is a tangent at a point C to a circle with centre O. If AB is a diameter and ∠CAB = 30°,

find ∠PCA.

2. At a point A, 20 metres above the level of water in a lake, the angle of elevation of a cloud is
30°. The angle of depression of the reflection of the cloud in the lake, at A is 60°. Find the
distance of the cloud from A.

3. If the sum of first 4 terms of an A.P. is 40 and that of first 14 terms is 280, find the sum of its
first n terms.

4. Solve for x: √2𝑥 + 9 + 𝑥 = 13.

5. Find that value of p for which the quadratic equation (p + 1)x2 – 6(p + 1)x + 3 (p + 9) = 0, p
≠ -1 had equal roots.

6. Prove that opposite sides of a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle subtend supplementary

angles at the centre of the circle.

7. A triangle ABC [Fig. 8.52] is drawn to circumscribe a circle of radius 4 cm such that the
segments BD and DC into which BC is divided by the point of contact D are of lengths 8 cm and
6 cm respectively. Find the sides AB and AC.
8. The angle of elevation of the top of a tower at a distance of 120 m from a point A on the
ground is 45°. If the angle of elevation of the top of a flagstaff fixed at the top of the tower, at A
is 60°, then find the height of the flagstaff.

9. The first and the last terms of an A.P. are 8 and 350 respectively. If its common difference is
9, how many terms are there and what is their sum?

10. If the ratio of the sum of the first n terms of two A.Ps is (7n + 1): (4n + 27), then find the
ratio of their 9th terms.
