Performance-Based Assessment
● a direct and systematic observation of the actual performance of students based on the
predetermined criteria.
● where teachers observe and make a judgment about the student demonstration of a skill
or competency in creating a product, constructing a response or making a presentation.
● It emphasizes the students ability to perform tasks by producing their own work with
their knowledge

Product

● is a tangible creation by a student, it could take the form of a poster, drawing, invention
etc.
● it refers to something produced with students providing concrete examples of the
application of knowledge.
● so it means that a product is something that can be seen, touched and assessed.

Lesson Proper

Product- Oriented Performance-Based Assessment

● an assessment where the actual students performance is assessed through a product such
as completed project or work that demonstrates level of task achievement.
● a student's product provides tangible indicators of the application of knowledge and
skills. So some products also includes essays, charts, drawings, maps and etc

REMEMBER:
● So remember that product oriented performance based assessment focuses on the product
only and not on the process.
● And when we are designing our product based test we must consider the competencies
that need to be addressed and remember this competency while formulating your scoring
rubrics.
