Q. What is ultrafiltration?
Ans. When filtration is carried out in the glomerulus, then substances with smaller molecular mass e. g.
water. Urea, Salts, inactive hormone, glucase and amino acid passes out forming glomerular filtrate.
This is called ultrafiltration. Q Explain mechanism of urine formation in the Kidney
Ans. Renal artery carries urea containing Oxygenated blood into the kidney. Here it is divided into knot of
bundles forming glomerulus. The tortuous capillaries present in the glomerulus, offer a resistance, stor
so that filtration occurs. The filtrate contains urea, uric acid, salts, water, Inactive hormone, amino acid
and glucose. Glomeruler filtrate passes along the renal tubule, where selective reabsorption of amino
acid and glucose occurs in the part of proximal convoluted tubule. Remaining Substance is called wine.
It passes along the convoluted tubule and released into the pelvis. Ureter carries urine from pelvis and
stores urine in the urinary bladder. Wrine passes out along wrethra,

Explain role of kidney maintaining Osmoregulation.
Ans. When percentage of water increases in the blood then increased quantity of urine Can eliminate
excess of water. When percentage of water decreases in the blood then ADH (Anti Diuretic Hormone)
absob water from wrine present around kidney tubule. Thus kidney maintains osmotic balance.

What is Homeastasis ?
Any. Homeostasis is the maintainance of internal Q. What is excretion?
Ans. Excretion is a
environment
physiological process by which unwanted metabolic substances are eliminated from the body.
Name three excretory substances
Ans. a) Co2 b) H2O c) urea.
O. Name three excretory organs.
Ans. a) Skin b) Kidney c) Lungs Q. What is deamination?
Ans. When excess of amino acid passed into the lively then -NH2 (Amino) group is removed from amino
acid and it is converted into urea. This is called deamination.
Q. State two functions of kidney.
Ans! Removal of urea as wrine.
Mainlain's osmotic balance.
Q state two differences in blood composition between Renal artery and Renal vein Ans. Renal artery
carries Oxygenated blood but renal
ver vein carries deoxygenated blood.
Renal artery carries more urea in the blood but Renal vein carries no urea in the blood.
