for "The Gruffalo."
5. Served as the UK Children's Laureate from 2011 to
2013.
6. Collaborated with illustrator Axel Scheffler on many
successful books.
7. Also known for her musical background and
contributions to children's TV.
8. Married to Malcolm Donaldson, with three children.
9. Legacy: Her books remain popular worldwide, making

I opened a book and in I strode Відкривши книгу, я в неї увійшов,

Now nobody can find me. На разі ніхто не знайде мене
I’ve left my chair, my house, my road, Я покинув свій світ, свій будинок, свій шлях,
My town and my world behind me. Позаду залишив я місто своє…

I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring, Надягнувши мантію й перстень,
I’ve swallowed the magic potion. Випив я закляття чарівне.
I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king Я боровся з драконом, обідав з принцем,
And dived in a bottomless ocean. І поглибився в море мандрівне.

I opened a book and made some friends. Відкривши книгу, я друзів знайшов,
I shared their tears and laughter Поринув у їхні сльози та сміх.
And followed their road with its bumps and bends І безкрайнім хвилястим шляхом я йшов
To the happily ever after. До кінця з ними прямувати я зміг.
