Specifically, it seeks to understand the nature of language contact, language policy, and bilingual education in the community, as well as to determine the optimal age for bilingual language exposure. Research subject(s) The research subjects include parents, teachers, intellectuals, and policymakers involved in the educational system in Pematang Siantar. These individuals were selected for interviews to gather their opinions and attitudes toward bilingualism and language education for young learners. Research method The research method involves conducting interviews with the selected subjects to gather sociolinguistic data. This qualitative approach allows for the exploration of individuals' opinions and attitudes, providing insight into the socio-political management of education and language policies in the community. Results and findings The research findings suggest that bilingualism is a complex phenomenon influenced by linguistic, sociological, cultural, educational, and political factors. It highlights the importance of preserving students' linguistic identity and the need for informed decisions in designing and implementing bilingual education models.
