PAST CONTINUOUS INTERROGATIVE

WAS/WERE + SUBJECT + PRESENT PARTICIPLE?


WAS + I/HE/SHE/IT + PLAYING?
WERE + YOU/WE/THEY + EATING?

To form a question in the past continuous we need to use the auxiliary verb “to be"
before the subject, that is, at the beginning of the question, as seen below:

WAS / WERE + SUBJECT + VERB OR BASE FORM + ING + COMPLEMENT?

 Were you having a good conversation in house?


 What was he doing this time yesterday?

YES, + SUBJECT + WAS/WERE is the affirmative and No,+ SUBJET
