STRUCTURE:
Positive sentences: SUBJECT + VERB IN THE PAST + THE REST OF THE SENTENCE.
WAS OR WERE?
WAS/WERE are the past form of the verb BE (am, is, are) which means “SER o ESTAR”
We use WAS with the pronouns I, HE, SHE, IT and we use WERE with the pronouns
THEY, WE, YOU.
Positive Sentences: SUBJECT + WAS/WERE (DEPENDING ON THE SUBJECT) + the rest of
the sentence.
Example: SHE WAS at home.
THEY WERE teachers.
Interrogative sentences: WAS/WERE (DEPENDING ON THE SUBJECT) + SUBJECT + the
rest of the sentence.
Example: WAS SHE at home?
WERE THEY teachers?
Short answers: YES, SHE WAS/NO, SHE WASN’T. YES, THEY WERE/NO, THEY
WEREN’T.

1-I studied English at school
2-Did you listen ….?
3-He didn’t cook last night
4-Did she play sports at university?
5-They worked late last week.
6-She travelled a lot in 2018
7-Jack worked in NY five years ago.
8-I called my parents yesterday
9-We didn’t live in France ten years ago.
