VERB TO BE SENTENCE
STRUCTURES:
EXAMPLES:
What time is it? / Who is he? / Where is the school? / How old are you? /What day is
today? / Where are you? When is the dinner? What time is the play?
THE SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
When do we use the Simple Present tense?
Use the simple present to talk about habits or routines, schedules, and facts.
Add -s to the verb for pronouns: he, she, it.
Do NOT put be in front of another verb in the simple present.
Ex: I am dance on Saturdays.
She is watches TV everyday.
Habit or routine: I exercise every day / I sometimes watch TV / I walk to work every day.
Schedule: She starts work at 8:00 a.m. / I have English class on Mondays at 8:00
Fact: It rains a lot in April. / The water freezes at 0· degrees.
1.AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCES
With the pronouns HE, SHE, IT …. the verb changes!
AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCES: Subject + verb + object/complement (with the pronouns HE, SHE ,IT the
verb changes)
Examples:
1.She likes chocolate. / She doesn´t like chocolate.
2.Daniel wants to go to the beach. / Daniel doesn´t want to go to the beach.
3.I have a sister. / I don´t have a sister.
4.He needs to buy a shirt. / He doesn´t need to buy a shirt.
5.They work at night. / They don´t work at night.
