McDermott Middle East and the DSV Lichtenstein have maintained a safe work
environment throughout this campaign. However, be aware of the hot weather
conditions when working outdoors or on deck, and drink plenty of water to avoid
dehydration.
A large team of safety officers and officers on board the DSV Lichtenstein are
responsible for the overall safety and safety programs onboard.

For this campaign, the navigation software for Online PC 1 computer used Eiva
Navipac 3.10.5 and for Online PC 2 used Eiva Navipac 4.5.4. This version
performed well and is stable, but a system restart is a necessity to be performed
every few days.

The Tug management System Navipac used for navigating 3 support vessels. This
system use wLan system with is master from Navipac Online 1.

On 25 January 2024, a position and heading comparison was executed following the
mobilization of the survey navigation system on-board Delta XVl, whilst the vessel was
alongside DSV Lichtenstein. The Navipac TMS system activate using physical dongle.
Since the project mobilisation, we have used the ready-made data cable by
previous survey operators under the survey desk. This cable is linked to the APOS
COM22/Port 2 (9600, 8, N, 1) for Hipap 501 Port and Com23/Port 3 for Hipap 501
Starboard PSIMSSB UTM E/N, Cartesian X/Y.
Survey equipment installed on the ROVs are identical on each system, including
the follows:
All heading information will have convergence applied and will be recorded and
reported as grid values. Operating units shall be metres and angular units shall be
decimal degrees (° Grid). Datum parameters to be used during the project are
presented in the next section.

The time datum will be local time, which will be Arabian Standard Time (AST). AST is
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) plus (+) Three (3) hours.
9. Activities
9.1 Cable Lay 15kV Power Cable from SFNY 1540/1549 to SFNY-TP 18
(4.091Km)
The survey was conducted in the direction of ascending KP. The depth range along the lay
route was documented to be between 13.4 meters and 16.3 meters. No debris or
obstructions were detected along the proposed power cable route. Nine (9) sandbags
were recorded during the survey. Eight (8) crossings were recorded during the survey.
Details of the pre-lay survey as per attach field report below:

This route initiates from the outer 500-meter zone of SFNY 1550/1559 WHP,
where an approximately 800-meter segment of the cable will undergo wet
storage, and extends to SFNY TP-21 within the SFNY field. The survey was

During USBL Cal and some Project Ops, Navipac unable to recognise the beacon
as an object, only recognised as its TP number.
For USBL Cal this is critical, because if it’s only TP number it will not be on the list
of the object to define the beacon position, in other words cannot do the
calibration at all.
If this happen, make sure the object selected and moved to the right on Navipac
Online – Edit – Positioning Systems (two of them for each, eg: Hipap_Port: Crane
& Hipap_Stbd: Crane), then moved in and out one object (any object) few times
to refresh the system.
This belong to the ROV, only we help them to get the data. The data is connected
to Moxa NPort on ROV Shack to port 4 (Com14). The Seanet Pro is installed on
Online2-PC, so don’t forget to always switch on the application here.
First time we set the Seanet output on the Moxa ports, only the data always
freezing after sometime, we managed to solve the problem after set the output to
the real serial Com (Com1) on Online2-PC.
10.1.3 MRU
The 2 MRU’s Seatex Primary and Secondary are unreliable to use, sometime good,
sometime like rubbish, and some other time freezing until the Datamon restarted.
We still put these two on the system for formality purposes only. Luckily we
manage to tap in Vessel MRU data and it is reliable to use after weeks of
observation, we use this for USBL Cal.
SVX2 connected to MOXA NPort on ROV shack, then connected to Survey Station
by network. Datalog Express software is located on Online2-PC, only we have
anomaly on this application, once the application started it will close the ports on
the Survey Station Moxa NPort one by one, start with Vessel MRU, Seatex MRU,
and so on, so when we record the SVP we’ll lost the position for a while until we
close the application. Still can’t figure out what is the real reason, but the suspect
is the “connection” with the ROV, power leaking, etc.
On the future we might need to use the Helmsman ROV PC directly to collect the
data without Moxa interfacing, we can use VNC to control it from the Bridge. Only
we need Serial to USB which we don’t have it at the moment.
10.1.5 Datamon
We tried to put it on warm start once, but the Datamon crashed straight away on
the first pop up, this also happened on NaviPac 4.5.
Online1 Datamon
