Objective: Identify Representations for the Self as they describe themselves and others
Method: Analysis of Sample's Descriptions of Self and Others
Task: Informal conversation with Acquaintance centered on the descriptions
Analysis: Qualitative analysis of phrases. clustering, narrowing down of Representations
Results and Discussion:

Type I
Characteristics: Listens to others, approachable, cheers others, attends to others, easy to get along with. Does not easily get angry,
understands other people's conditions, friendly with everyone, fun to be with, lots of friends, supports friends, helpful

Ang Simpleng Tao


A type of person that does not try to attract excessive attention through his/her manner of dressing.

The Simpleng Tao is:


• Not different from the typical, average man
• One who can easily be friends with, that is easily satisfied with what is available
• One who is humble

Actions that characterize the Simpleng Tao are:


• Maintaining a low profile in one's social world Conforming to external circumstances (nakikibagay)
• Being friendly to everyone (lahat ay kasundo)
• Not being choosy about what he may obtain in life (hindi pihikan)

When one is Simpleng Tao:


• All may be one's friends or potential friends,
• One may easily reach one's ambition in life, and
• One will not be left out and look stupid.

Ang Toong Masayahin


A type of person that is easy to make them happy and likewise easy to make others happy.

The Taong Masayahin is:


• Does not see problems where there are none
• One who is fun to be with, talkative and always full of stories
• Enjoys going out to have fun
• Likes having and being with friends

Actions that characterize the Taong Masayahin are:


• Telling jokes (nagpapatawa)
• Laughing
• Doing things that can please another (gagawin kung ano ang ikaliligaya)
• Suddenly suggesting to go on a trip somewhere (biglang nag-aaya kung saan-saan o maglakwatsa) Telling stories
(makikipagkwentuhan) or incessant talking (laging nagsasalita, madaldal)

Ang Taong May Malasakit


A type of person that readily shares his/her time with others.

• The Taong May Malasakit is:


• Generous and never stingy.
• Empathizes with oppressed, those who have lesser in life.
• Mindful of other's conditions.
• A person who you can always rely on.

▫ Ready to listen
▫ Gives advice

Consequences of these actions:


• One is able to avert or remove any ill feelings others may have for the person
• One is able to bring happiness to others. May experience some form of hardship.
• One experiences what would generally be defined as a positive inner feeling.

Ang Taong Matapat


A type of person that haves and shows complete and constant support in his relationships
• Loyal to his friends. • Maintains relationship with them through constant communication.
• Pleases him to give support when needed. • Loyalty is shown in his ability to keep secrets.
• Willing to do favors for his friends and may sometimes find it difficult to turn them down.
Keeps his word, is honest and can be relied on when he is needed.

Type II
Characteristics: Sensitive, moody, thinks a lot, problematic, has conflict with external world, afraid of criticism, expresses dislike
for others through words or actions, quiet, does not talk too much, does not joke a lot, not easy to get along with, says the truth,
hot tempered, hides one's feelings

Ang Taong Tago ang Kalooban


A type of person that cannot be easily understood, not easy to get along with.

The Taong Tago ang Kalooban:


• Rarely mixes around with others
• Does not disclose own feelings except when they are his trusted friends
• Is usually quiet

Reasons for hiding feelings:


• Shyness
• Fear of seeing his weakness
• Controls emotion to deceive others about how he feels
To whom are these traits manifested?
• People who are not close to him (ibang tao)
• People to whom he feels uncomfortable to be with
• People who caused him pain

Consequence: Appears to be moody or sensitive

Ang Taong Hayag ang Kalooban


A type of person that typically expresses in a direct manner whatever is on his/her mind.

The Taong Hayag ang Kalooban is:


• One who never beats around the bush
• Open to her feelings and current experiences in life
• One whose emotions are usually expressed is anger and feelings of affection
• Shows this representation towards people whom they have feelings for or for those whom they dislike

When are these traits manifested?


• When they are exploited or abused
• Irritated by another
• When anger cannot be contained
• When someone is talking ill of hin ot her

Expression Comes in the Form off:


• Cussing
• Shouting
• Anger or irritation
• Loss of control over himself/ herself

Type III
Characteristics: Does everything possible to succeed, persistent, impatient, plans, decisive, desires, dedicated, industrious,
striving, forceful

Ang Taong Nagsusumikap


A type of person that is works hard in whatever he/she does.

• The Taong Nagsusumikap is:


• One who possesses a goal in life
• Useful in situations when action is directed at objects and events desired by the individual

The Taong Nagsusumikap:


• goes through a lot of hardship
• is insistent
• stands by one's decision
• tries all one's best
Conclusions

2. The expression of one's inner self is allowed in that area of life wherein one tries to fulfill one's goal.
3. Loob and Kapwa

Recommendations
• Further investigations should be made to determine the experience of Self in various phases in a person's life.
• Language: important consideration to research
