In the jungles of Sumatra, Indonesia, lives the Sumatran orangutan. With its long arms and red fur, it's
a fascinating creature. But it's in danger because people are cutting down its home – the trees.
Habitat Destruction: Sumatran orangutans are losing their homes because people are cutting down
trees to sell the wood. This is making it hard for orangutans to find food and places to live.
Declining Population: There used to be 40,000 Sumatran orangutans 100 years ago, but now there are
only 6,000. Their numbers are dropping fast.
Ways to Help: We can help Sumatran orangutans by teaching others about them, planting new trees,
and supporting wildlife conservation organizations. These actions can give orangutans a better chance
to survive.
Conclusion: Sumatran orangutans need our help. By learning about their habitat, the dangers they
face, and what we can do to help, we can help protect them.
