THE VIRGIN MARY

Little is known of the Mary beyond what we can learn from the Gospels and Acts of the Apostles. Based on
what we read in the Gospels we can however, make the assumption that Mary was born in the Roman
occupied Nazareth approximately 13 BCE. Although it is never stated in scripture, Catholic tradition holds that
her parents’ names are Anne and Joachim.
