2.1 FUEL DRAfN

Draining is accomplished by operating the cock located i-n

The lower fuselage section, just after after the firewall frame
Draining 80-100 cc(s-5 cu.in) is considered enough to comple-
tely eliminate the water in the tank.

Caution:
Thi-s operation shoufd be performed before moving the aircrat form it's
Parking place Lo avoid that condense water present on tank bottom
emulsify with fue1. Check for water presence in tank.
In that case repeat fuel drain opearation.

2.2 REFUELLING

Import.anL: use gasoline only as sLated in engine manual.

Refuelling must be done using the electrical pump operated from cabin.

REFUELLING OPERATIONS

1) Make sure that the fuel feeding hoses are safely connected;
Use the fuel duetion hose (filter provided) - (check for cleaning
and integrity)

2) Connect the fuef sucLion hose (filter provided) i-n the appro-
priate supply connection located in the l-ower R.H. fuselage
sj-de, just aft of the main landing gear.
Iasert the hose end in the fuel can.
3) Start the refuelling electrical pump and open the feeding
cock positioned under fuselage.
4) After the refuelling is complete the air bubbless that may be present
in t.he hoses must be e1i-minated.

6.1. INDICATED AIRSPEED CORRECT]ON (I.A.S.)

'\*, The airspeed probe detects the dynami-c air pressure relative
to the aircraft flying at certain altitude and speed.
Since dlmamic pressure is proportional to air density,
airspeed indication at- Z aftitude must be corrected
in order to refer aircraft speed to ground (true Air
Speed)

6.2 TAKE-OFF

F\g.5-z showsa diagram relevant to takeoff run and takeoff

distance over an obstacle of l-5 meters (49 ft) height.
Values in absciss reported take into account an additional
safety height of 4 meters (13 ft)
For this reason the aircraft will pass over the obstacle at 19
meters (52ft) height-
The diagram also considers the runway altitude referred to
sea 1evel, ttre number of occupants and the ambient
temperature

6.2.1..WIND INFLUENCE

Wind influence (head wind, tail wind, crosswind) noticeabfy

changges the aircraft ground speed. With wind at takeoff
(and landing) occurs with a lower ground speed eovering a
minor distance. The opposlte occurs with a tail wind-
rn the following some e>cperimentally-drawn data are reported
for information on1y.
EEAD WIND Take-off and landing run is SHoRTER of something about
8-10 meters for every 5 Km/h (3 MPH) of wind speed.
Example: with a 10 Km/h (5 MPH) of head wind take-off run will be somethi-ng
about L6-20 meters shorter of t.he one showed in Fig.6-2 diagram.

Pag.29 STORCH CL
engine ROTAX-582
t' tfyl,r{Irrl_;1.
Rif/ref Rev/Rev 02.O4.Ol English ed.

TArL WIND Take-off and landing run is LONGER of somet.hing about

8-10 meters for every 5 Km/h (3MPH) of wind speed.
CROSSWIND Keep in mind that. crosswind is resolvable in two component.s:
one j-s on runway axis and the other is perpendicular to runaway axis.
For values of this scomposition see Fig:6-3.
Component on runway axis (frontsal or not) must be trated as precedent
point.s.

5.3 CLIMB
Fj-g.6-4 shows a diagram concerning the maximum aircraft rate of climb with
engine set to 6000 RPM. Diagram also consider altltude referred to sea level,
number of occupants and ambient temperature.

Climb Speed:
- Vx (best angle of climb), i.e. the indicated airspeed wich a11ows the aircraft
to reach the max altitude wi-th a min ground distance; for STORCH aircraft is 95
Km/h, with flap set to 15o.

- Vy (best, rate of climb), i.e. the indicated airspeed corrsponding to the max
aircraft rate of climb; for STORCH aircraft is 125 Kt1\/ht wit.h flap set at 5".
6.4 CRUISE
Fig.6-5 shows the dlagram relevant to the aircraft crui-sing
speed with engine set Lo 5500 RPM - The diagram take i-nto
account of type of propeller installed, occupants number and
altitude on sea 1eve1.
6.5 LANDTNG
Fig.5-6 Shows the diagram relewant to landing rr.ns and distances
over an obstacle of 15 meters (49 fL) height
The diagram also considers the runway altitude, number of
occupants and ambient temperature.

5.6 GLIDING WITH MÅXIMUM EFFICIENCY ATTITUDE

In the event of in-flight engine stoppage without any possi-
bility of engine restart (or due to unsuccessful atLempts to
restart it) setting the aircraft at the maximum efficiency at-
tiLude (or min.glide angle) is recomanded.
This to achieve the minimum glide angle correspondlng to mi-
nimum rate of descent.
For STORCH the indicated airspeed corresponding to the maxi-
mum efficiency (Emax = 13) attitude is:

veff.max = tro xm/h T.A.s.

Following data shows max dj-stance allowed in function of altit.ude after setting
aircraft to max efficiency attitude.
