1.

Beginning of day

Why This procedure will support a smooth and consistent start to the
day.

When This procedure will be performed in the morning, as students first


arrive at school.

What  Enter the building quietly and follow your teacher to your
classroom
 Hang coat, backpack, and other personal belongings on your
hook
 Bring any homework or class materials in from your backpack
and return them to their proper place in the classroom
 Check for Bell Work on the front board, and complete if
necessary
 Once your bell work is completed, find your sit spot on the floor
 Sit quietly as you wait for the teacher to begin the Morning
Meeting

Who The teacher will teach this procedure to all students in the
classroom.

When The teacher will introduce this procedure on the first day of school,
and students will be guided through practicing the procedure for
the first two weeks before they are expected to perform it on their
own.

How Students will show mastery of this procedure when they are able to
go 1 whole week without needing major redirection or guidance
during the beginning of the day.
2. Going to the bathroom (as a class)

Why This procedure will support a smooth and consistent start to the
day.

When This procedure will be performed several times a day during class
bathroom breaks (before specials, after lunch/recess, etc.).

What  Upon instruction, quietly follow the Line Leader to the


bathroom
 If you need to use the bathroom,
o Wait in line for an open stall
o Wash and dry your hands with soap and water
 If you do not need to use the bathroom,
o Line up along the wall and wait quietly for your
classmates
 Once everyone is finished, wait quietly for instructions from the
teacher to return to the classroom
Who The teacher will teach this procedure to all students in the
classroom.

When The teacher will introduce this procedure on the first day of school,
and students will be guided through practicing the procedure for
the first two weeks before they are expected to perform it on their
own. The procedure will be retaught as needed if students are
experiencing difficulty.

How Students will show mastery of this procedure when they are able to
go 1 whole week without needing major redirection or guidance
during class bathroom breaks.
3. Leaving the classroom

Why This procedure will be used to ensure ease of travel between


classrooms and to ensure that students have all necessary
materials for their new destination.

When This procedure will be performed in the morning, as students first


arrive at school.

What  Gather any materials you may need


o Library: due library books
o Gym: gym shoes, clothes, equipment
o Art: finished projects
o Lunch: lunchbox
o Recess: equipment, jacket
 When instructed, line up quietly with space in front of and
behind you
 Wait for instruction from the Teacher to leave
 Follow the Line Leader to the new destination
Who The teacher will teach this procedure to all students in the
classroom.

When The teacher will introduce this procedure on the first day of school,
and students will be guided through practicing the procedure for
the first two weeks before they are expected to perform it on their
own.

How Students will show mastery of this procedure when they are able to
go 1 whole week without needing major redirection or guidance
during the beginning of the day.
4. Independent work time

Why This procedure will guide students during independent work time
or when they finish an assignment/activity early.

When This procedure will be performed any time the student has finished
their work or when students are given designated independent
work time.

What If you finish your activity or assignment early,


 Check your Subject Folders and finish any incomplete work;
turn any finished work into the Turn-In Basket
 If all incomplete work has been turned in, you choose:
o Independent Reading: choose a book from the
Classroom Library or read your library book
o Challenge Worksheets: pick a math or word challenge
worksheet from the basket
o iPad Learning: plug your headphones in and do math
or reading activities on the iPad
o Journal: Find a clean page in your journal and do a free
write, or pick a prompt from the Prompt Bin
 Work independently and keep the volume level low

Who The teacher will teach this procedure to all students in the
classroom.

When The teacher will introduce this procedure when independent work
time first occurs. Students will be shown the different independent
work activities and where to find materials. Additional procedures
will be taught to students as they are added to the list of
independent work activities.

How Students will show mastery of this procedure when they are able to
go 1 whole week without needing major redirection or guidance
during independent work time.
5. End of day

Why This procedure will support a smooth and consistent end to the
day.

When This procedure will be performed at the end of the day, as students
get ready to leave school.

What  When instructed, clean up materials from your final activity


of the day
 Make sure all materials are returned to their designated spot
 Pick up AT LEAST 5 things from the floor (stray materials,
paper scraps, garbage, etc.)
 Gather any take-home materials (assignment notebook,
homework, books, etc.)
 When dismissed, put your chair up on your table and line up
quietly at the door
 When the teacher instructs, follow the line leader out to
your coat hooks
 Put any take-home materials in your backpack and return to
line
 Wait quietly for the teacher’s final dismissal

classroom.

When The teacher will introduce this procedure on the first day of school,
and students will be guided through practicing the procedure for
the first two weeks before they are expected to perform it on their
