ZOMBIE BUDGETING

APOCALYPSE
Commander S. Crued 13/05/2013

Perth Military Command Centre

Reports from Military outpost Delta indicate that Australian Quarantine will not
be able to stop the contagion, Virus 231z, from infecting Australian civilians.
The Perth Military Command Centre recommends that every Australian begins
preparing for the eventual infection of the State.
Civilians will have 12 months to save their wages and buy the supplies they
believe they will require to survive the coming disaster. Current projections
suggest that the disease will reach Australian shores in July 2014.
Civilians must prepare to support themselves only, have enough food, water and
supplies to survive at least 4 months. In order to do this, individuals will need
to create a budget that will allow them to save for these supplies while still
maintaining a reasonable quality of life.

Step one: Estimated how much income you currently earn per week. Those
individuals unemployed will be conscripted into the governments Viral
Preparedness Service. They will earn $8 per hour for 4 hours on Thursdays, 2
hours on Mondays and 5 hours on Sundays.

Step Two: In a table prepare a list of your current expenses (clothing, leisure
activities, entertainment etc.) and how much you estimate you would spend per
week. See example table (a) for layout.

Step Three: Subtract your weekly expenses from your weekly earnings to identify
your current weekly rate of saving.

Step Four: Multiply your current weekly saving rate by 52 weeks.

Step Five: Identify any upcoming additional expenses (birthdays, holidays…) and
subtract their estimated cost from your savings total.

Step Six: Based on your current earnings, expenses and savings, how much money
will you have available to you to purchase supplies in one year’s time? Will
this be sufficient?

Step Seven: Regardless of you final total return to your estimated expenses and
identify any areas where you may be able to reduce costs (for example; instead of
spending $30.00 per week on food from the school canteen could you take your own
lunch 3 times per week and reduce your costs to $10.00?). Adjust your final
savings total.

Step Eight: Submit your financial findings to the Military Authority for review.
