Section: Grade 10 - STE Pascal

Rationale
:

Hypothesi
s Null Hypothesis: The Neem oil-based pesticide repellent has no effect against mosquitoes,
ticks, and other pests.

Alternative Hypothesis: The Neem oil-based pesticide repellent has an effect against
mosquitoes, ticks, and other pests.

Research 1. Why did you researchers chose Neem oil as the main ingredient for this natural pesticide
Questions repellent?
:
2. How did you come up with this study?

3. What are the advantages of naturally made pesticide repellent than synthetic pesticide
repellent?

Engineeri
ng The goal of this study is to create a pesticide repellent that is naturally made, and not
Goal(s) harmful to us humans and our environment.

Expected
Outcomes The researchers expect to eliminate mosquitoes, ticks, and other pests using the
Neem oil-based pesticide repellent.

Descriptio Materials needed:

n in detail The main ingredient of this study is Neem oil mixed with hydrocarbon that is derived from
of petroleum, and elmusifiers such as soap.
methods
or
procedure C.1 Procedures
s The researchers will start to mix the detergent and water neem oil and add 1 to 2 teaspoons
of dish detergent to 1 gallon of warm (not hot or cold) water in your sprayer. They will
spray the solution spray in all plant surfaces (including tops and undersides of leaves) until
completely wet and dripping. Then reapply regularly (to observe changes) as preventative
measure, neem oil should be applied to all the plant surfaces on a seven-to-fourteen-days
schedule, according to neem oil manufacturers. When applied to control present
infestations, apply the oil mixture every 7 days.

C.2 Risk and Safety

The risk and safety of making a natural pesticide repellent can have a several factors, such
as having supervision, spilling of substances, wea

ring of PPE (personal protective equipments), and proper techniques.

C.3 Data Analysis

For the data analysis, the statistical tool that the researchers will use is the One Sample T-
test.
