ORDER
Whereas, many trees in the Union Territory of Chandigarh are part of natural
heritage of the city and serve as an important green landmark and

Whereas, there is a danger of losing such major trees due to various

reasons and the need is felt to protect such trees and educate the community on
the importance of such heritage trees and protecting our tree wealth.

Now, therefore, the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh is

pleased to notify 31 number of trees described in the Annexure-l ,Heritage as
Trees' hereinafter called as ,,Heritage Trees of Chandigarh,,.

The depa(ments/institutions on whose premises these Heritage Trees

are
standing shall be responsible for jts protection, preservation and
conservation in
coordination with Department of Forests & Wildlife, UT Chandigarh.

The Department of Tourism, UT Chandigarh shall plan and organize

Heritage Walk along these trees in order to educate
and sensitize people towards
Heritage Trees of the city.

The Engineering Department, UT Chandigarh and

Municipal Coporation, UT
Chandigarh shall not cut or prune these Heritage Trees
without prior approval of
the UT of Chandigarh Administration.

Separate advisory shall be issued by the Department of Forests

& Wildlife,
UT Chandigarh on mainlenance and upkeep of the premises around
such
Heritage Trees in Chandigarh.
