To Whom It May Concern:

Gregoria Charar Ortiz is currently enrolled in the Senior Seminar and English Language
Development (ELD) courses that I teach at NOVA Academy Early College High School. She
has worked diligently on developing her senior portfolio for the upcoming interviews. Also,
Gregoria’s academic achievements are evident by her G.P.A. of 3.10, and her current work.
During the ELD classes that she has taken here at NOVA, my appreciation for her detailed work
on her assignments in class has grown. Gregoria came to NOVA at the beginning of her
sophomore year. At that time, she had very limited abilities in English, but she was determined
to learn to speak. Although, Gregoria was very overwhelmed at first with going to high school
classes while learning English, she kept working hard in all of her courses. Oftentimes, she
would work late into the night to keep up with her classes. Gregoria is a cheerful encouraging
person to be around, and I have seen her grow and develop in the areas of academic excellence
and personal maturity.
Gregoria has been a great help to others. One of her community service projects has been
to help teachers here at NOVA with organization and cleaning of their classrooms. She has also
helped by getting students ready for the start of class by passing out folders, earphones, and other
supplies needed during my classes. Gregoria has been like a T.A. in both the ELD classes and the
ELD LINK class. Gregoria has already met the community service hours required for graduation,
and she was the first to finish her senior portfolio. It is no surprise that she is going to pursue a
major in psychology, because she is so considerate to her colleagues in all of her classes.
Gregoria intends to start college in the fall at Santa Ana College. She is a self-motivated and
persevering individual whose commitment and tireless effort has helped her to be successful. If I
had only three words to describe Gregoria, these words would be leader, focused, and kindness.
I would highly recommend Gregoria as a person who demonstrates high standards for
herself and her work. I am confident that Gregoria will be successful in her future endeavors, not
only in education and work, but in life.
