Nowadays there are lots of problems with schools and the education system.

People are very divided

on this subject. Some of them believe that children should have basic knowledge in the field of for
example the natural sciences, whereas others think that school must prepare teenagers for an adult
and independent life.

It seems to me that it is very important for everyone to have practical skills as soon as possible. We
enter adult life at the age of 18. After graduation, we choose our path and start making our dreams
come true. Starting studies is often associated with moving out far from family and friends. That is
when we are becoming to realize that we do not have any practical skills for instance doing laundry
or paying taxes. We start to need these skills overnight, but it is impossible to get to know them even
in one day. For this reason, schools should help children be ready to be independent. What is more,
it is not easy for everyone to learn those skills outside of school. Some children have huge family
problems and their parents do not want to help them. In such a situation, access to these abilities is
very difficult.

I reckon that for everyone starting a new stage in life is stressful. Not knowing what to expect or how
to behave is making us feel overwhelmed. Learning practical skills takes lots of time that we could
devote to school, work, or personal development. By the age of 18, everyone should have these skills
to focus on growth and success. Even though we mature and learn at different paces, everyone
should be able to take care of themselves.

Overall, I am sure that teaching practical skills at schools has lots of benefits. They are needed right
after we finish school and for me, this is the most important reason. We have to enter adulthood
feeling ready for new challenges and experiences. We should try to keep teenagers excited about the
new reality, not stressed.
