Some other facts about Domino’s Pizza in India

India - the largest market outside US
Interestingly, the proliferation of outlets in India
has led to crunching the delivery time. Weiner
explains. Back in 2009, India ranked sixth in
terms of outlets. Mexico was the biggest country
outside the US with 589 outlets; India, in
contrast, had 296. Fast forward to 2022. India
tops the chart with 1,625 outlets (1,701 in Q2
FY23). Mexico, in contrast, has a tally of 813.
The UK, Japan and Australia follow India in the
pecking order. “The only reason we can get the
pizza faster to our customers is because our
stores are closer,” he says. Weiner is quick to
allay fears about fast driving. When you have
stores that are closer to customers, he
underlines, it's not about how fast you drive.
“We have speed governors on all the vehicles,
and so drivers can't drive fast,” he says.

P E
-The current population
of India is 1,418,126,019 as of
Thursday, April 27, 2023.

-India population is equivalent

to 17.7% of the total world
population.

-India’s population is young. Its birth

and death rates are both near the
global average. More than half the
population is under age 30 and less
than one-fourth is age 45 or older.
Life expectancy is about 68 for men
and 70 for women.
P E
The biggest factor behind India’s
massive population is its young people:
650 million Indians—nearly half the
country’s population—are below the
age of 25. And experts estimate that
India won’t hit its population peak until
2065, which means that even if the
younger demographic produces only
one or two children per couple, the
population size will continue to increase
over time before it stabilizes, driving
what Population Foundation of India
(PFI) calls the “population momentum.”
PFI adds that India can learn from
China’s shrinking population by
achieving low fertility rates without
imposing further population control
methods.
P E
In 2021, approximately a third of the
total population in India lived in cities.
The trend shows an increase of
urbanization by almost 4 percent in
the last decade, meaning people have
moved away from rural areas to find
work and make a living in the cities.

Leaving the field

Over the last decade, urbanization in
India has increased by almost 4
percent, as more and more people
leave the agricultural sector to find
work in services. Agriculture plays a
significant role in the Indian economy
and it employs almost half of India’s
workforce today, however, its
contribution to India’s GDP has been
decreasing while the services sector
gained in importance.
P E

India is of course one of the fastest

growing economies of the world
and a major part of its growth can
be attributed to the middle class.
A section of country's households
which earn above Rs 5 lakh per
annum but less than Rs 30 lakh
per annum can be categorized in
the middle-class segment.
P E

Traditional culture toward foods

Traditional Indian foods have their own

significance in social and cultural
aspects. Moreover, traditional cuisines
are largely influenced by religious,
regional, and agrarian traditions.
Over the years the collective knowledge
of preparing food has been preserved
and experimented with the
contemporary ingredients to make it
more delicious. From vegan to non-
vegan, one can find thousands of
amazing dishes in India.
P E
The Indian food recipes are
incomplete without exotic spices
and flavors native aromatics.
Being religious, people have a
huge attachment to their food
culture.

These include cardamom,

coriander seeds, cumin seeds,
fennel seeds, garlic, ginger,
mustard seed, nutmeg, onion,
poppy seed, red chili pepper,
turmeric, and more.

Not only do they add aroma and

depth to your dishes, but they
also have health benefits that
can improve your overall well-
being.
P E
Food in North India:
-Spices and veggies reign (lots of vegetarian options).
-North Indians prefer breads like naan over rice.
-Dishes aren’t as fiery hot as in the south, and you’ll
find more creamy creations.

South Indian dishes:

-Curries are hotter.
-More rice is eaten, often combined with lentils.
-Dishes feature a lot of seafood and coconut.
P E
The iconic breads and curries widely
recognized in Indian food outside of the
country are enhanced by the bustling
street food culture, celebratory dishes and
ancient beverages that make up the
vibrant world of Indian food.

less hygienic because it is

removing shoes and toileting.

P E
Eating habits:
Most dishes feature meat or
vegetables mixed with sauce
and rice. Since many Indians
are vegetarian, the menu for
everyday meals is based mostly
upon a diet without meat. When
meat is incorporated in dishes, it
is most commonly in the form of
chicken or lamb, and sometimes
seafood, such as prawns. The
majority of the Indian
population is Hindu, so beef
and pork are often excluded
from Indian dishes due to
religious requirements.
P E
Eating habits:
Family is central to Indian cultural
values. Meals are most often eaten
with family members. Everyone
gathers around the table or relaxes
on floor mats while eating chutney
and curries on a big banana leaf.
P E
Traditional cuisine:
Rice and meat or vegetables are
prepared separately, then combined
and slow-cooked in the oven to
create this aromatic “dry dish”
(there’s no creamy gravy-like sauce).
Basmati rice is typically used. The
meat (goat, chicken or mutton) is
usually marinated first in yogurt.
Spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg
and cardamom add a delicate
flavor.
P E
Traditional cuisine:
Butter chicken (or murgh makhani) is
one of the most popular Indian curries.
Typically a mild curry, it combines
onions, butter and cream in a velvety
smooth tomato sauce with chicken
chunks.
P E
Traditional cuisine:
As part of your Indian curry feast,
you need one of the most famous
Indian dishes – naan.
A type of pillowy yeast-leavened
flatbread, naan is traditionally
baked in a clay oven (called a
tandoor). It’s perfect for mopping
up all that delicious curry sauce!
P E
Traditional cuisine:
A staple in many Indian
households, paratha is unleavened
flatbread, happily eaten at breakfast,
lunch and dinner.
Paratha vs naan: What’s the difference?
While naan is baked in a clay tandoor
oven, parathas are pan-fried. They’re
thinner than naan and flakier.
To eat them, tear the paratha apart with
your fingers. It’s delicious on its own. Or
use the torn pieces to scoop up your
curry sauce.

practiced is generally Tibetan Buddhism.

The war on plastic waste has no end India:
Plastic waste is a big problem in
India, a billion-population country in

P E S T L Environmental
The Central Pollution Control Department
estimates that there is about 26,000 tons of
plastic waste in India every day, causing
landfills to become increasingly
overcrowded. Remarkably, half of this is
burned, unclassified or dumped directly into
the natural environment including seas and
rivers. In June 2018, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi pledged to eliminate single-
use plastic products by 2022, according to
The Economic Times.

To date, experts say the government is unlikely to achieve this goal while mountains of garbage mixed
with plastic waste and other non-biodegradable things are still "standing" in many places. For example,
authorities warn that in just a few months, the Ghazipur landfill in the east of the capital New Delhi will
be taller than the famous Taj Mahal with a height of 73 meters, according to AFP. Even so, hundreds of
garbage trucks still go in and out of this site every day due to the inability to find an alternative.

because flat, leavened breads, often with various toppings added, have been a common and beloved
food in India for thousands of years.

The delivery staff and manager often sit down to draw roadmaps for orders. Each delivery
must ensure a total travel time of 8 minutes, 7 minutes of waiting in case of traffic jams and bad
roads. In this way, 99% of Domino's pizzas are delivered in just 30 minutes.
