In language teaching, it is crucial to consider the exposure of students to the target language,

the students' comprehension, and the learning environment. Using just one language teaching
approach is not effective as it has limitations, but combining them with other approaches might
be possibly effective in teaching the language. First approach is direct method, students are not
allowed to use their native language and it emphasizes the target language exclusively. It also
prioritizes oral communication. Second is the grammar-translation method, it focuses on
teaching grammar rules and translation. Suggestopedia aims to help learners overcome
psychological barriers to learning. These three approaches can be combined to enhance the
teaching and learning process effectively.

The direct method can enhance the speaking skills of the students, improve their pronunciation,
and improve their fluency in the language, but it also lacks comprehension and structure as it
only allows students to use the target language, so there is a possibility that the students will
have a hard time learning the language. But using the grammar translation method at the same
time will be able to fill the hole. Grammar translation will enhance the students’ writing skills as it
requires them to memorize grammar rules and the native-language equivalents of the target
language vocabulary. This will allow the teaching-learning process to be balanced and to avoid
leaving some aspects of learning the language behind. In addition, considering that the
surroundings of the students should be in accurate for learning without distractions,
suggestopedia will be added to be responsible to the learning environment of the students that
is one of the most important things in learning process.

In applying this three-approach combination in language teaching, Suggestopedia can be used

at the beginning and end of the lesson to create a comfortable learning environment, while the
direct method and grammar translation method are used for teaching speaking and writing
skills, respectively. This combination allows students to improve their overall language
proficiency effectively. Ultimately, by integrating these diverse approaches, language teachers
can effectively support their students in achieving proficiency in the target language.
