RESEARCH TITLE: WASTE MANAGEMENT IN SCHOOL: PROPER

SEGREGATION AND DISPOSAL OF WASTE IN CABUCGAYAN NATIONAL

SCHOOL OF ARTS AND TRADES

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine the waste management in school proper

segregation and disposal of waste in Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades.

Located in Libertad, Cabucgayan, Biliran. The researchers used the qualitative,

descriptive and quasi-experimental design method in conducting the study with the use

of questionnaires as the main instruments.

Background of Study

The management of waste has emerged as a critical concern in both developed and

developing nations due to its profound environmental and health implications.

Educational institutions (Paa, Magno, & Tan, 2014),

sI\

such as Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades, serve as microcosms of

society, generating a significant amount of waste daily. However, the efficient

segregation and disposal of waste within educational settings often pose considerable

challenges.

Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades is no exception, facing issues

ranging from inadequate waste segregation infrastructure to limited awareness among

students and staff regarding proper waste disposal practices. The absence of effective

waste management strategies not only contributes to environmental degradation but

also jeopardizes the health and safety of the school community.

This research endeavors to address these pressing concerns by conducting a

comprehensive study on waste management practices within Cabucgayan National

School of Arts and Trades. By examining the current state of waste management,

identifying areas for improvement, and proposing viable solutions, this study aims to

establish a framework for optimizing waste segregation and disposal processes within

the school.

Key objectives of this research include

 Assessing the existing waste management infrastructure and practices in

Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades.

 Analyzing the challenges and barriers to proper waste segregation and disposal

within the school environment.

 Proposing practical strategies and interventions to enhance waste segregation,

collection, and disposal processes.
