protected by two guard cells.

c) Cell Wall - All cells have cell membranes, but generally only plants, fungi, algae,
most bacteria have cells with cell walls. The cell wall provides strength and structural support to
the cell, and can control to some extent what types and concentrations of molecules enter and
leave the cell.

flower to use when beginning the reproductive cycle.

e) Non Communicable Disease - Diseases which do not spread from one person to another
person by contact or any other method are called non-communicable or non-infectious diseases.
Examples -Beri-beri, Scurvy, Arthritis, etc.

IV. DEFINE THE FOLLOWING (1 mark each)

23) Pollination - The transfer of pollen grain from anther to stigma of same flower or other
flower is called pollination. There are two types of pollination. Self pollination and cross
pollination.

Ans: The nasal cavity cleans, moisturizes and warm the air that enters through nose. It is lined by
ciliated epithelium and Mucous gland. The mucous gland secrets mucous. The ciliated
epithelium is present on the entire lining on Larynx, Trachea Bronchi and Bronchioles. The cilia

and mucous traps dust, microorganism and other impurities and prevent them from entering the
respiratory tract.

38) Why should we wash our hands before taking food?

Ans: We should wash our hand before taking food because we come across a variety of articles
in our daily life like furniture, books, water, food items which may carry germs. They will be
picked up by us while touching them. When we take our food these germs will be transferred to
our body through mouth and causes infection.
