4 ROOM PREPARATION
4.1 ROOM PROPERTIES
Plan a layout and prepare the X-ray room before starting the installation. Refer to the provided room
layout and floor plan drawings of the tube stand.
Please consider the following when preparing for a Camargue installation:
• On the wall stand side, the distance between the wall and the edge of the floor rail should
allow 100 cm FFD, but collision with wall stand must be avoided. (Recommended distance is
970 mm).
• We suggest to use the overhead (wall) guide rail for greater stability. Even if installing the stand
without the overhead rail, we recommend setting the rail rear edge-to-wall distance to 160 mm
allowing for installing the overhead rail later.
• Use appropriate wall plugs and bolts for mounting the rails according to the wall / floor
properties.
If the tube stand is not installed with components that are made by Control-X Medical, Inc., please refer
to the original manufacturer’s specification.

The site must comply with federal regulations and local codes, as well as the
dimensional and power requirement set here and for other equipment.
ATTENTION!

Inspect the room before installation. If the condition of the wall (ceiling) and the floor is not suitable for
leveling, corrective action shall be taken. If the ceiling is not suitable for supporting the upper rail you
will use the supplied wall mounting brackets.
The tube stand requires at least C20/25 grade reinforced concrete floor according to EN 206-1:
Concrete grade Group Compression strength of Compression strength of

IN THIS X-RAY ROOM.

4.3 ISOLATION FORM THE SUPPLY MAINS

The Camargue radiographic system incorporates an emergency switch that disconnects the motorized
drives and the electromagnetic brakes from the mains supply on all phases. However, some associated
equipment, such as computers, flat panel detectors are not disconnected when activating the
emergency switch for data / study integrity reasons.

The X-ray room must be equipped with a suitable isolation device (e.g. 3-phase breaker) that
disconnects the entire radiographic system (including the X-ray generator, associated
equipment and accessories) from the mains supply in case of:
• the equipment in not in use
• emergency
The isolation device must be equipped with an indicator for both the ON and OFF states and
ATTENTION! must lock into both ON and OFF positions.
The voltage and current rating of the isolation device must be equal or greater than the
supply mains requirements indicated in the X-ray generator accompanying documents.

Reconnect (turn ON) the mains only after safe usage conditions are ensured.

7.4.8 Vertical Potentiometer Calibration (WS 99 P/PT only)

The purpose of the potentiometer calibration is to ensure that the potentiometer works in the correct
range of vertical travel. The 10-turn 10 kOhm potentiometer is located on the top of the column. The
potentiometer is driven by gears attached to one of the wire rope wheels. All three lugs available at a
length of cable.

30. Decouple the vertical potentiometer so that it does not turn when the vertical carriage is moving.
31. Move the vertical carriage to the highest possible position and measure the height of the focus from
the floor (h2)
32. Move the vertical carriage to the lowest possible position and measure the height of the focus from
the floor (h1)
33. Move the vertical carriage to exactly halfway of the vertical travel so that the focal point is
h = h1 + (h2 - h1) / 2 from the floor.
34. Turn the potentiometer by hand to one of the end positions.
35. Turn the potentiometer exactly 5 turns in the opposite direction.
36. Couple the potentiometer with the wire rope wheel.

Due to the elongation of the wire ropes with time, the vertical position measuring
may become inaccurate. Perform the potentiometer adjustment procedure
regularly (during scheduled maintenance) to ensure accurate position values.

7.5.7 Table Function Settings (Phoenix Only)

7.5.7.1 “STOP- time” Duration Adjustment

The PHOENIX elevating table features two circuits where the duration of the vertical movement STOP
time and the transversal movement of the tabletop are adjustable.
Radiographic Operating Height
While raising or lowering the table, it automatically stops for approximately 1.5 second when the
tabletop reached 745 mm [29.3”] from the floor (radiographic operating height). To adjust required time
delay, configure J4 or J5 jumper blocks according to the following chart

J4 J5 Time [sec]
OFF OFF 0
ON OFF 0.5
OFF ON 1.0
ON ON 1.5
Tabletop Transversal Center-Position
While moving the tabletop in the transversal direction, it automatically stops for approximately 1.5
second in center position. To adjust required the duration of this time, configure J6 or J7 jumper blocks
according to the following chart.

J6 J7 Time [sec]
OFF OFF 0
ON OFF 0.5
OFF ON 1.0
ON ON 1.5

7.5.7.2 Safety Feature Settings

The Phoenix elevating table is equipped with several safety features that prevent the undesired
operation of the table (i.e. patients getting on or off the table and involuntarily stepping on the foot
pedal) and avoid accident.

Vertical Movement
The table vertical movement cannot be started unless the operator initiates it either by pressing the
Bucky release switch while stepping on the foot pedal or double taping on the foot pedal. To activate
the preferred feature install jumper on either J2 or J8. If you want to disable this feature then both
jumpers shall be installed. The double tapping feature has been already set up at the factory.

D-4891-03
Camargue Radiographic System Installation Instructions 45
REF Z7J32003

Despite both safety features can be disabled we do not recommend to install both
jumpers.
ATTENTION!

Tabletop Brake
The tabletop brake-release electronics has a programmable double tapping feature, similar to the
vertical movement safety circuitry. If J9 jumper is removed this feature is activated for the transversal
movement. Installing J3 jumper this feature is applied for both longitudinal and transversal tabletop
motion as well.

Crash Guard
To prevent damage to the table while lowering accidentally on any object, a standard crash guard is
installed. This guard stops the down motion when the tabletop is pushed upward.

7.5.7.3 Position Switches

The table position switches are adjusted in the factory. If you need to make an adjustment on these
switches, they are located in the front left area of the table. Please remove the front covers to have
access to the switches. Loosing the bolts on the holding bracket the switches can be adjusted in either
direction. Once you finished the required adjustment, tighten the bolts and restore the covers.

7.5.7.4 Tabletop Brakes

The function of the brakes is to hold the tabletop in a fixed position while the releasing foot pedal is not
activated. If the tabletop tends to move in any directions while the brakes are activated, please check
the surface of the brakes and the rails system facing the brakes. The brakes and rails are treated before
shipment to avoid oxidation on the surface, so this protecting layer may reduce effectiveness of the
brakes. If needed brakes and rails must be cleaned. Remove all protecting grease or oil from the surface
to have best performance. To get access to the cross-table brakes, remove the side cover on both sides
(inside the table) of the transverse travel bearing assembly, clean the brakes, and surface as necessary.
The longitudinal brakes are underneath the tabletop, you need to slide the top in one and the other
direction (remove the stopping end-pieces first) to have access to the brakes.

position of the cross-hair shadow again. Loosen the screws located on the top of the trunnion ring, turn
the X-ray tube collimator assembly to place the shadow centered between the two marks. Mark the new
location and moving the carriage up and down verify that the shadow will remain on the mark within
1/8-inch (3 mm). Repeat the aligning procedure if it is necessary.

7.6.3 Positioning the Table Receptor to the Tube Stand Horizontal Travel
If the tabletop is floating or there is no centerline on it, then it shall be removed and the receptor will be
referenced to for positioning.
Move the tube stand and the receptor horizontally to one end of the table and using the collimator
cross-hair shadow center that end of the table. Repeat the procedure on the other end as well. Verify
that the image receptor is centered within 1/8-inch (3 mm) along the vertical travel. When the table is
parallel to the horizontal travel of the tube stand, anchor the table to the floor as instructed by the
manufacturer.

D-5079

The Camargue system requires regular maintenance. In order to keep the equipment in good operating
condition it is necessary to perform regular inspections.

Repairs shall be carried out by a trained and qualified technician, or in a service

workshop, or in the manufacturing factory.
WARNING!

In order to keep the equipment in good operating condition it is necessary to perform regular
inspections.

If the equipment is used frequently, an inspection should be performed every

month. In case the device is used only occasionally, random maintenance inspection
shall be carried out at a 3-6 months interval.
WARNING!

D-4891-03
Camargue Radiographic System Installation Instructions 49
REF Z7J32003

The objective of this inspection is to reveal and eliminate any hidden malfunctions. The inspection shall
include the following:
• The running track of the roller bearings (contamination of the tracks or running surfaces of the
bearings)
• The forces required for the movement (jamming, loose screw, contamination)
• The operation of the magnetic brakes (unadjustment, loose screw, insufficient contact)
• The most important screw joints
• Wire ropes
• Electrical operation

The Camargue system has been constructed to require minimal lubrication. The parts requiring
lubrication are supplied with the appropriate lubricant when the equipment was delivered from the
factory; they do not require any re-lubrication.

9.1 LUBRICATION
If for any reason lubrication is required, the materials used originally are described below.

Roller Bearings
Special ball bearing grease saponified by lithium. The use of greases inclined to gumming is prohibited,
because they would increase the rolling resistance of the bearings.

Wire Ropes, Rope Wheels

Materials resisting to corrosion have been applied. In order to reduce friction and wear they are
lubricated by the factory, no re-lubrication is required. In case of renewal only grease with a
molybdenum disulfide additive, or fluorized graphite can be used.

Only acid free grease and oil may be used for treatment.

WARNING!

Due to the elongation of the wire ropes with time, the vertical position measuring may become
inaccurate. Perform the potentiometer adjustment procedure to calibrate the position values (refer to
sections above).

9.2 MECHANICAL TESTING

Check the anchors and (wall) plugs for proper tightness as well as all assembling screws and nuts. If
necessary, tighten loose connections.
Check the proper position of the ball and guide bearings. If necessary perform adjustment to the
eccentric axles on the base.
Check all brakes and moving parts every 6 months. Movements must be smooth and without any
excessive noise. Brakes must hold the tabletop firmly in every position. When released they must not
obstruct movement.

9.3 CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

The Camargue System does not require special cleaning or sterilization. However, it is recommended to
clean:

D-4891-03
50 Camargue Radiographic System Installation Instructions
REF Z7J32003

• the tube stand control box and handles,

• the tabletop,
• wall bucky / detector holder cover and brake release handles
from time to time.

• For cleaning without disinfecting, you may use mild soapy water or an equivalent cleaning
solution. Apply some solution with lint free cloth or paper towel and wipe down the surface.
• If for some reason, the handles or other surfaces require disinfection, you may use Actichlor
(contains Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate, a form of chlorine) or equivalent with a 3 to 5%
Hypochlorite concentration.
• Method of disinfection:
1. Turn off the system completely (using the wall disconnect switch).
2. Use 50/50 disinfectant / water solution.
3. Apply (e.g. spray) the disinfectant on a lint free cloth. Make sure the cloth is only damp
and not wet.
4. Do NOT apply the disinfectant directly on the surfaces as the substance may get into
the equipment
5. Wipe the surfaces carefully with the cloth.
6. Before turning the equipment on again, make sure that the disinfectant has evaporated.

To clean / treat the surfaces, only acid-free, non-corrosive, non-abrasive

substances shall be used.
WARNING!

Only such disinfecting methods shall be used that correspond to the relevant regulations and rules as
well as the protection from explosion.
The use of disinfecting spray is not recommended because it can get inside the equipment.

Make sure that no water or other liquids enter any component of the
Camargue system. Such liquids may cause short circuit in electrical components
and / or corrosion on surfaces.
WARNING!

9.4 CALIBRATION SCHEDULE

Some of the components require periodic calibration:

Every 12 Months
• The X-ray tube must be calibrated every 12 months to compensate for tube aging and ensure
accurate operation (refer to the X-ray generator technical manual and the X-ray tube datasheet
for calibration instructions)
• If the equipment is equipped with one or more tracking functions or digital SID / tube angle
display, calibrate the position display and tracking once a year
