A. Review previous lesson or Yesterday, the class was able to identify different tools/instruments and equipment used in
presenting the new lesson food preservation.
B. Establishing a purpose for
the lesson
What can you see in the picture?
When do we use these utensils?

Yesterday, you identify different tools/instruments and equipment used in food preservation.
C. Presenting Our lesson for today is about the uses the tools/utensils and equipment and their substitutes in
examples/instances of the food preservation / processing.
new lesson You may not have every kitchen utensil out there and sometimes come across recipes that need
them.
In that case it's fun to get creative and use other things to replace that utensil.

Rather than holding off on making recipes that require such special tools, you can be a little
creative and find a substitute.
D. Discussing new concepts Some utensils and there substitute:
and practicing new skills #1 1. Sifters - Sifting flour and dry ingredients make for perfect breads, cakes, and more. But sifters
aren't really versatile with other cooking techniques, so it can feel pointless to have one if you're
not a baking guru. Instead of buying a sifter, you can use a strainer.

2. Rolling pins - If there is no rolling pin, beer bottles, wine bottles, or tall glasses can do the trick
just as easily.

Rolling Pin Bottle

3. Whisk - Many foods calling for a whisk can easily be whisked with a fork (like these eggs), but
when having a whisk is really necessary, use a deep bowl with either two forks or a pair of
chopsticks.

4. Egg Separator - There are several ways to separate egg yolks from whites without a dedicated
tool, but the bulb end of a turkey baster makes a super simple makeshift egg separator . If you
don't have an egg separator, use a water bottle .

5. Grater – A grater is a kitchen utensil used to grate foods into fine pieces. If no grater to be
used, you can substitute it with an empty can.

E. Discussing new concepts Aside from what you have learned, can you give other utensils which can be used as substitute
and practicing new skills #2 for the needed utensils?
F. Developing mastery Present a situation wherein the tools/instruments needed for a specific recipe are not available.
Ask the learners to think of a substitute.
G. Finding practical You are planning to preserve papaya but you have no grater to use. What substitute can you use
applications of concepts and to grate the papaya?
