Intramurals sports are recreational sports programs that are organized within a particular
institution, such as a school or university, rather than being competitive leagues between different
institutions. Intramural sports provide an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to participate
in organized sports activities in a more relaxed and less competitive environment. The exhilarating
fun and camaraderie of competition that I experienced during the 2022 intramurals feel a relief. I
waited for this event for too long since intramurals and events are restricted for 2 years of the
pandemic as it arises. It’s not the same as it was but the excitement is still there an opportunity to
meet and socialize with other people who share similar interests. Intramurals can provide a great
way to make new friends and build relationships with others. Intramurals can provide a supportive
and welcoming environment for those who are new to a sport or who want to improve their skills.
Participating in intramural sports can be a positive and enjoyable experience that can have long-
lasting benefits, both physically and mentally.

It was different from what is done before as I have experienced at the University of Cebu
Lapu-Lapu Mandaue. The intramurals were done through online “E- Intramurals” and I find it
spiritless and insipid because Intramurals are supposed to be interesting and engaging. The limited
restrictions are what makes it boring so. Camaraderie, unity, and resiliency is the key to
transformative education in this post-pandemic era. Gladly, it was a different experience this year
as Cebu Technological University never fails to surprise me from the opening to the very end, it
was on December 5, 2022, so cheerful at the Abellana oval as the heat of the sun harmonize with
the flame and ambiance of camaraderie and the presence of overwhelming passion in every athlete
working together towards a common goal. Intramural sports can help develop teamwork and
leadership skills. The prestigious event that I cannot forget is lighting the Christmas tree with such
fireworks that its iridescence mesmerized the eye. Although, I admit that it was frustrating and
tiring on the last day since it was the day that numerous students join the queue as we lined up for
the big disco causing a stampede with tight spaces from one another causing sweat and irritation,
but it doesn’t stop the fun that we’re having. We didn’t go to the event, instead, we chitchats with
friends about how our day went.

Despite an instant enjoyment and the disparity of what was once before comparing it unto
the present moment, it will never be the same, but at least to have the privilege to experience the
same event in a different time perhaps with different people is worth anything that I couldn’t
exchange for a lifetime. It was fun while it lasted, savoring the moments as it eventually turns into
memories accompanied by laughter from friends that makes my stomach ache. Perhaps the

prestigious event of intramurals isn’t all about sports, but it is about whom you accompanied with.
Showing the very best and conquer, otherwise, getting eliminated. Til next year!
