Considering : a. that to optimize the implementation of the independent


learning program, adjustments to the recognition of
student activities and achievements are made;
b. that based on the considerations as referred to in letter
a, it is necessary to stipulate the Rector's Decree on
the Amendment to the Rector's Decree

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH SUMATRA NUMBER
2329/UN5.1.R/SK/SPB/2022 CONCERNING
GUIDELINES FOR IMPLEMENTING THE
INDEPENDENT STUDY PROGRAM OF THE
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH SUMATRA.

ONE : Amend Appendix I CHAPTER V letter C of the


Chancellor's Decree Number
2329/UN5.1.R/SK/SPB/2022 concerning Guidelines for
the Implementation of Merdeka Belajar Program at the
University of North Sumatra, by adding 3 (three)
numbers, namely number 7 to number 9 so that it reads
as stated in the Appendix which is an inseparable part of
this Chancellor's Decree.
BOTH : This Rector's Decree shall be effective as of the date of its
enactment.

a. General
1) In fulfilling the right of students to be able to study outside the
Study Program, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and
Technology organizes PMM activities.
2) PMM is an in-country PMM activity for 1 (one) semester and gets
credit recognition up to 20 (t w e n t y ) credits.

2. Certified Internship Activities


a. General
1) The internship program can be carried out through an
integrated learning system including cooperative education
dual system or link and match which is student-centered
learning by combining the learning process through lectures
and work in a professional and sustainable manner.
2) The integrated learning system aims to:
a) achieve learning outcomes;
b) acquire knowledge, general skills and specialized skills/job
skills; and
c) Internalization of professional attitudes and work culture
that are appropriate and necessary for the business world
and / or the industrial world includes cooperative education

out to complement the curriculum that has been taken by students.
The Study Program can also make Independent Study Activities /
Independent Projects to complement topics that are not included in
the lecture schedule, but are still available in the Study Program

1) Independent Study / Independent Project activities can
complement or replace required courses.
2) The equivalence of independent study activities into courses is
calculated based on the contribution and role of students as
evidenced in activities under the coordination of the supervisor.
3) Activity hours that must be fulfilled for 1 (one) credit are at
least 2.83 (two point eight three) hours per week or equivalent
to 45 (forty-five) hours per Semester.
4) Activity hours that must be fulfilled 20 (twenty) credits for 900
(nine hundred) hours per Semester.
5) Competition activities organized by the National Achievement
Center of the Ministry of Education and Culture can be an
option for students in taking the MBKM Program model
Independent Study Activities / Independent Projects.
6) These activities include the 5 (five) fields of student creativity
programs, holistic village development and empowerment
programs, and the Indonesian Student Business Competition.
The theme taken by students must be adjusted to the CPL of
the Study Program.
7) Calculation of recognition for Student Creativity Program /
Independent Project activities through 4 (four) stages:
a) Student proposals that pass stage 1 (one) are recognized for
2 (two) credits.
b) Proposal Students to funded education

d) The output of the National Student Scientific Week

4. Independent Entrepreneurial Activities


a. General
1) Students are part of the human resources that can become the
backbone of development through the nation's economic
independence and students are part of Indonesia's millennial
generation.
2) Based on the 2020 MBKM guide, which cites research from the
IDN Research Institute in 2019, that 69.1% (sixty-nine point one
percent) of millennials in Indonesia have an interest in
entrepreneurship and interest, and the entrepreneurial potential of
this large millennial generation needs to be supported and
facilitated through higher education governance that supports
student entrepreneurship programs in universities.
3) The MBKM Program policy encourages the development of
students' entrepreneurial interests with appropriate learning
activity programs.

5. KKNT Activities
a. General
1) Village building or KKNT activities are a form of education by
providing learning experiences for students to live in the
community outside the campus, which directly with the
community identifies potential and handles problems so that it
is expected to be able to develop the potential of villages /
regions or small towns that need and concoct solutions to
problems that exist in the village.
2) KKNT activities are expected to hone the soft skills of
partnership, cross-disciplinary / cross-competency teamwork, and
student leadership in managing development programs in rural
areas.
3) The implementation of KKNT activities can be carried out in
underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions whose human
resources do not have the ability to plan development with these
large funding facilities.

Description: 1 (one) credit = 45.3 (forty-five point three) hours of
activity per Semester.

6. Independent Research Activities


a. General
1) This form of learning is provided for students who are interested
in Independent Research Activities and wish to become a
researcher held at research institutions / study centers / partners.
2) Students who participate in Lecturer Research as research
assistants in Lecturer Research such as TALENTA Research and
Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service
organized by Partners.
3) Students who conduct Independent Research Activities in
research laboratories at research institutions / PT / other
agencies or obtain research funding from partners in the form
of research institutions, companies, research and development
agencies / local governments, and others outside USU.
4) The period of implementation of Merdeka Research Activities
is at least 1 (one) semester equivalent to 20 (twenty) credits and
a maximum of 2 (two) semesters equivalent to 40 (forty)
credits.
