SUBJECT: UPDATE ON NSFAS ALLOWANCES

Dear Students

Following the Vice-Chancellor and Executive Management’s meeting with ISRC and
Premiers held on 10 April 2024, management engaged NSFAS with the intention of obtaining
approval for the University to pay NSFAS allowances.

On 12 April 2024, NSFAS granted approval to the University to pay allowances up until July
2024, including outstanding April 2024 allowances. Payments will be made as follows:

• Outstanding April allowances will be paid by Tuesday, 16th of April 2024.

• May – July allowances will be paid by the last day of each month.

The University has also requested information on pending TENET allowances. The
outstanding TENET allowances will be paid as soon as we get the go-ahead from NSFAS (to
avoid duplicate or double payments).

In the meantime, the students' cooperation and understanding will be highly appreciated as
the University processes payments and continues to engage NSFAS.
