Reason for modification:

Some hydraulic leads and cable harnesses have been laid too close to the exhaust pipe.

Cranes concerned:
AC 80-2, 81523 – 81533, except 81530

1. Administrative course of action:

Settlement of costs:
The costs incurred will be reimbursed by Demag Mobile Cranes GmbH & Co.KG, however,
exclusive of any consequential costs and loss of profits.
Settlement shall be made through warranty; invoices from companies involved in performing
outsourced work for the said modification shall be addressed to:

Foreign subsidiaries and dealers shall make the handling through warranty.

2.2.2. Working instruction

Before work can begin, the crane must be supported on outriggers and the counterweight
must be picked up. Then remove the engine covers in order to obtain access to the engine
compartment. Now take the left wheel off the first axle in order to obtain better access to the
working area.
A) Laying and heat insulation of the hydraulic hoses in the engine compartment
Loosen centre clamp of hydraulic hoses in the area of the exhaust system (see photo).

Remove centre fastening

clamp, wrap around hose
packet and fit with bracket.

Exhaust pipe

Check hydraulic hoses for damage, replace if required.

Afterwards, wrap some heat insulation 200 x 1000 mm around the hoses and fasten with
cable ties.
Now fasten the "hose packet" with the bracket as shown.

B) Laying the hydraulic hoses over the left front wheel

Check the hydraulic hoses for damage in the area of the exhaust pipe (see photo), re-
place if required.

Exhaust pipe

Using elbow unions, lay the hoses

as shown.

Lay the hoses as shown by inserting both elbow unions so that the distance to the ex-
haust pipe is increased.

C) Heat insulation of the cable harnesses over the left front wheel
Check the "cable harness packet" (see photo) for damage. Afterwards, wrap some heat
insulation 200 x 300 around the hoses and fasten with cable ties.

Refit left front wheel and engine covers. Set counterweight down again and retract outriggers.
