Reason for modification:

Insufficient horizontal clearance between the shaft and exterior tube of the rotary joint can
cause problems during rotation after some period of operation.
In order to increase the clearance and to protect the rotary joint against dust and dirt, new
covers are delivered with turned down sliding surfaces and two O-ring seals.

Labour time: 5 hrs Travelling time: as required, but max. 8 hrs

Settlement of costs:
The costs incurred will be reimbursed by Demag Mobile Cranes GmbH & Co. KG, however,
exclusive of any consequential costs and loss of profits.
Settlement shall be made through warranty; invoices from companies involved in performing
outsourced work for the said modification shall be addressed to:

Foreign subsidiaries and dealers shall make the handling through warranty.

2. Technical course of action:

Modification instructions:
· Remove steering gear and electrical rotary joint
· Remove cover of hydraulic/pneumatic rotary joint; caution: the bolts are usually seated
very tightly
· Remove slipring (white plastic ring)
· Clean slideway and lubricate with acid-free grease
· Insert new slipring, fit O-rings onto new cover and mount
· Re-install steering gear and electrical rotary joint; note: steering gear must be positioned
at an angle of 81° to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle
· Test if rotary joint now rotates without jerking or rattling noises.

Projected labour for this modification: approx. 5 hrs.

Reason for modification:

On some cranes, insufficient horizontal clearance between the shaft and exterior tube of the
rotary joint caused rattling and jerking noises during rotary movements, without causing any
damage.
In order to increase the clearance, new covers with 0.5 mm turned down sliding surfaces are
now to be delivered and mounted.
