However as the cliché goes, "There is always an exception to the rule". Since
there is an endless list to what one or two people can talk about, a sudden change in
speech context, style, act, and communicative strategy may arise, therefore affecting
various factors such as language form, duration of interaction, relationship of
speaker, role and responsibilities of the speaker, message, and delivery.
A Shift in Speaking Situation Affects the Following:
Speaker- chooses the most familiar topic which he is willing to discuss and expound
at the extent of his expertise. He initiates the interaction and takes control
of the success of the communication by means of proper way of
presentation.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Speaker- serve as the lifeline of the quality of
interaction in communication because the speaker handles the pros and
cons of the feedback received. When these are met, he creates a
diversified way of thinking.
Audience- refers to the listeners who may react to the ideas presented. Their
reactions may enhance or diminish the flow of the communication based
on how interesting the topic is.
Relationship- refers to the bond between the speaker and the listener which may
depend on how the discussions relate to their interests and knowledge.
Quality of Interaction- is achieved when the speaker and the listener are able to
exchange related information which improves their reception.
Language Form- is affected with the change of vocabulary and strategy used by a
speaker. The process of communication may have disruptions if there is
misconception due to irrelevance, and or pompous use of words.
Delivery- is affected whether the listeners are able to fully understand the concept
implied or create doubtful remarks. Proper delivery requires techniques
which demand the speaker to express thoroughly.
Message- is the core concept of the interaction. When the speaker is able to answer
all the questions of the listener beforehand and are received positively,
then the message is correct and acceptable. 3
When effective communication is used, both the speaker and listener improve
their interactive inputs and outputs.

Think of a time when you had to explain one message in two different instances with
varying contexts. For example, you want to tell your parents that you want to attend your
special someone's birthday party tonight and in another instance, you talked about the
same thing with your friends during your vacant time.
