(PPE)
INTRODUCTION
What is PPE?

PPE means the equipment that is worn to limit


exposure to potentially harmful substances or
conditions.
OBJECTIVE
PPE training program is to protect employees from
the risk of injury by creating a barrier against works
place hazards and to minimize the impact of injuries

It’s designed to protect an employee against


hazards including impact, heat or cold, harmful
chemicals, dust and others.
PRINCIPLE
To prevent contact between the hazard and internal
or external part of our body.

It’s shall be the duty of every employer to provide


necessary personnel protective equipment to
employees at no cost.

INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE

All PPE must be examined in accordance with


manufacture recommendation, by trained persons
before being issued to and worn/used by workers.

-The wearer/user must inspect the personnel protective


equipment provided to ensure it’s cleanliness and
conditions.
- Where appropriate maintenance programme must include
examination, testing and record keeping
- There must be arrangement for cleaning and disinfecting
FOR equipment used by more than one workers
STORAGE
-PPE issued, must be properly stored while not in
use.
- Competent designated person must be appointed
to take care charge of item
- Contaminated equipment must be kept separetely
from others item
TRAINING
As per mentioned under section 15(2)(c), OSHA
1994, every employer and self-employed person
must provide suitable and adequate information,
instruction, training and supervision to his/her
employees with respect to safety matters.
RECORD KEEPING
Written records shall be kept of issuance of
equipment, the name person training provided and
the dates when the training conducted.
SELECTION APPROPRIATES
OF PPE
Prior to providing the personnel protective
equipment to workers on site, a preliminary
identification of the hazards and risk involved should
be carried out and workers need to be consulted as
to ensure the personnel protective equipment
provided are suitable, comfortable and convenient
to them.
