Manifesto for the post of

Convener, Student Senate 2022-23

I nominate myself for the position of Convener, Student Senate 2022-23. As an approachable,
purposeful and open-minded personality with apt experience to back it up and an obligation to
uphold, I believe I am a great fit for the role.

As Convener, I would work earnestly to ensure proper functioning of the Student Senate.
Following are some of the agendas that I would like to propose:

Coherent Student Representation by Senators

● Ensure regular open houses and reserve spaces for students to talk to their
respective senators so that the senators can understand their inconveniences and
integrate multiple perspectives.
● Facilitate frequent communication channels between the Senators and the
Convener so that representatives of all batches gain an insight into the happenings
of other batches.
● Have an informal discussion at the end of the senate meetings where any of the
Senators can come forward and talk about relevant issues.

Adapting Solutions of the Student Leadership Conclave (SLC)

● Address the problems and solutions discussed in SLC in the student senate as they
are of practical significance.
● Discuss and adapt the solutions proposed for the benefit of the student body.
Accountability, Feedback and Recommendations
● Increase the frequency of feedback meetings with students, council members, and
clubs, and convene them at the end of each semester.
● Collect regular feedback from hobby groups in order to assess their status and
provide necessary assistance.

Outreach, Transparency and Online Presence

● Work towards the goal of making the student body aware about discussions and
decisions of the student senate via social media and other online platforms.
● Increase transparency of discussions and encourage the community to provide
feedback, which would promote more of such discussions.

Calendar and Events

● Act as a mediator to review and replan the calendar of events conducted by
different student groups, councils and other independent bodies, so that all events
are conducted smoothly one after the other, without any clashes.
● Discuss the prospects of novel events with the councils and include them suitably in
the event calendar.

Having worked with a diverse set of people in different settings, I am well-aware of the structure,
function, and purpose of various councils and their events. I would make appropriate use of this
experience and work sincerely to bring every voice into the limelight, and firmly represent the student
body in the student senate and other institute committees.
