Overview:

After being Allies during WWII, the U.S. and U.S.S.R. soon viewed each other with increasing suspicion. Their political
differences created a climate of icy tension that plunged the two countries into an era of bitter rivalry known as the Cold
War. There was never a direct military engagement between the US and the Soviet Union, but there was half a century
of military buildup as well as political battles for support around the world. Tensions lasted until the break up of the
USSR in the early 1990’s.

Assignment:
The Cold War rivalry between the two superpowers unfolded into multiple arenas: espionage, space exploration,
military, sports, and industrial developments. Since the Cold War was a period of competition to prove superiority, your
group will compete to create a better product than another group. Each group will be given a bag of random items. Your
team will create a prototype, blueprint, and pitch for your product. Using the items provided you must persuade your
classmates that your product is superior, which of course means your groups is thus superior.

Check off the Product that your group was assigned:

o Spy (Espionage) Gadget- Create a high tech product to spy on enemy countries.
o Space Exploration Invention – Create an innovative device that could be used in space.
o Weapon- Create a weapon of mass destruction that could intimidate any country in the world
o Athletic Training Mechanism- Create a ground breaking Olympic level apparatus to train
your countries elite athletes
o Industrial Monument- Create a Monument that any country would be envious of (i.e. Eiffel
Tower, Statute of Liberty, Pyramids of Egypt)
